Waiting for news from Bro OMSHKS ...

Our resident 6er poison spreader, Bro OMSHKS, poisoned me many many AGAIN yesterday, during lunch time... with a series of tantalizing, delectable photos and an explicit description of - wait for it, yes, it's even better than pr0n - his DYNO RESULTS!

I won't spoil the fun, after all, it's only right that the master poison spreader gets the honour to lay on the poison thick thick for the rest of us disciples....

BUT, here's hoping that this started thread will prompt Bro OMSHKS to fast hand fast leg post up all the details of the findings!

/wobbles buy popcorn & soda & guai guai sit down to wait.....

Re: Waiting for news from Bro OMSHKS ...

This could be interesting but pls do note that many n54/55 cars got only 260-270hp on engine on their stock cars due to our warm climate.

Re: Waiting for news from Bro OMSHKS ...

I think the Dyno only measures wheel horsepower, and we'll have to guesstimate the crank horsies - given the usual (approx) 30% loss for rear wheel drive, auto tranny cars....

About 15% loss on RWD and 20% loss on AWD

Re: Waiting for news from Bro OMSHKS ...

yah he call me to call him back... but I forgot... haha! He's now the technical mod king of PI cars

Re: Waiting for news from Bro OMSHKS ...

Just texted him to tell him you guys all camping here! Actually I have his dyno chart....shall I steal his thunder?

Yes can you please be kind enough to post :)

Re: Waiting for news from Bro OMSHKS ...

Dear Bros.... sorry for the delay... am quite busy the past few days... the pics and dyno chart will be loaded in a while... thank you all for the patience...

Re: Waiting for news from Bro OMSHKS ...

Dear bros... my 640i F12 has been on the supersprint 2 piece exhaust since June... piggyback swiss chiptech was installed in July. So after few months of enjoying the drive, I decided to proceed to do a dyno for the car. Called up Zane from Coco World and he recommended me to go to Uber Garage at Toh Guan. I have been watching a lot of dyno vids on youtube... but nothing beats seeing your own car getting a dyno done. The tuner really reved the car hard and it is really loud inside the chamber...good thing the doors werent closed. Anyway I am posting jus pics... will try to post the video soon.

Enjoy...

The dyno chart will follow shortly...

Bros keen on getting dyno done for their cars...pls take note that once the car leaves the chamber, you get a flurry of check lights on your console, idrive etc etc... very scary... ABS, drivetrain, brake system, Pedestrain warning system... almost the whole cockpit lights up... But all these clears up once you start driving normally for 5 mins...

Re: Waiting for news from Bro OMSHKS ...

Bros.. can see the pics or not?

Re: Waiting for news from Bro OMSHKS ...

Bro OMSHKS, can see, can see... busy wiping fogged glasses.... sibei STEAM AH!

Wow, the photos you W.App'ed me hardly do justice to the real thing! Thanks man!

Re: Waiting for news from Bro OMSHKS ...

Ok... now on to the dyno chart... I did 4 runs first with the piggyback chip on. The piggyback was disconnected and the car was left as it is for the ECU to reset. We then did another 4 runs without the piggyback chip aka stock (with supersprint exhaust).

FYI, the engine tested is a N55 engine on a 640i F12. Rated figures at crank is as follows:

320 bhp @ 5600-6000 rpm
450 Nm @ 1300-4500 rpm

I have been advised by the tuner that the above figures are at crank... once all these transmit down to the wheels, be prepared to lose about 25 to 35%.

The figures at the wheels as advised by the tuner and seen off the chart are as follows:

Stock (with supersprint exhaust)
- 276 bhp @ 5500 rpm
- 407 Nm @ 2400 rpm

Swiss chiptech with supersprint exhaust
- 278 @ 5500 rpm
- 481 Nm @ 2400 rpm

I was quite surprised there was not much gain in terms of bhp at peak 5500 rpm... however the tuner said looking at the chart, there are quite good gains across the whole rpm up till 5500 rpm. He mentioned that what is important is the torque gain which is significant. And this is typical of the N55 turbo engine... torque comes in early from 1500 rpm and peaks quite fast... the torque then drops and the powertrain takes over... very linear...

In any case I am quite happy with my current setup... the torque at low end is very impressive...

Any comments bros?

Re: Waiting for news from Bro OMSHKS ...

Overall it has been a fun and educational experience getting the dyno done for the car... and I know exactly how much power my car pumps out now...

cheers bros...

Re: Waiting for news from Bro OMSHKS ...

Say conservatively, 278hp at wheel x 1.25 (accounting for 25% loss thru tranny & rear-drive system) = 348hp, or, using THIS GUESSTIMATOR HERE = 347hp, which is fairly close to the expected gains.

A little off the advertised 370+ hp, but given our hot climate etc etc, it's still not a bad result!

Re: Waiting for news from Bro OMSHKS ...

Bro Samlambo - when are you going for your Dyno run? Am anxious to know just how much additional horses the downpipes gifted the F13.... :D

Re: Waiting for news from Bro OMSHKS ...

a paltry 2 bhp gain but whopping 74nm of torque gained.... the tuner should return your money back....

I guess the increase in torque gave the mental perception that the car seems faster....

any dyno charts from JB'ed cars?

I know 2 bhp gain is not a lot... but there is definitely gain across the whole rpm range...not at peak of 5500 rpm though... Let us wait for Bro samlambo's dyno charts...

Re: Waiting for news from Bro OMSHKS ...

they using Dynapack?

Re: Waiting for news from Bro OMSHKS ...

Very nice. I did my dyno also but at BOSS Motorsports, however I told them not to push over 6000 rpm as peak power for our cars is between 5500-6000rpm. I did 3 runs and first two runs at +4 psi over stock so around 14-15psi at peak and third run at +5psi over stock which is between 15-16psi at peak(very safe for the turbo).
For those who don't know, why I say peak is because our boost is programmed to hit peak boost than tappers off as it nears towards redline. Usually it hits peak than tapers off to about 11-12psi, the BMW dme/ecu does this for turbo longevity.
Attached is my dyno chart at ENGINE/Crank horsepower.
My last/3rd run at +5psi showed about 332hp at crank and 529nm of torque. If you look at my first two runs, there is a difference of about 30hp and 40nm of torque just by increasing from +4 to +5psi which is still very safe for the turbo. Our engine can handle much more but our turbos start running out of breath around 17-18psi and after that you just start producing more heat.
On a side note BOSS Motorsports also did dyno the M3 and only got 370hp at crank/engine which if you ask me is about right for our climate.

My mods include: ACS exhaust/muffler with tailpipes, BMC drop in filter, BMS/RSI Downpipes and BMS Juicebox3 Stage 1 piggyback.

Future mods: Evolution Racewerks front mounted intercooler.
