Hi All,

Hope you can shed some light on this that I'm trying to figure. If you had virtual gauges in your car, what info would you like to have displayed?

Cheers!

Re: Virtual Gauges

Wow you are getting really evil!

I would like oil, exhaust, engine and water...if i had a BMW of course. :)

Re: Virtual Gauges

Wah liao..... wet dream sia.....

Water Temp, Trans Temp, Oil Temp, Exhaust Temp, Boost pressure, Fuel Pressure, RPM, Shift light

Re: Virtual Gauges

ok guys, tonight we've been testing this in my car.... so the idea is its not just going to be for BMWs... hehehe...

we got basically RPM, Speedo, Engine Coolant Temperature and Air Intake Temperature. There are a whole other bunch of sensor info that is typically in most cars that are not available in your standard instrument cluster.

Louis, virtual gauge is like a virtual meter you have in your car now? Like Speed, Techo, Fuel, etc. ... just that its not a physical mechanical thingy? for my case its a computer program that shows that info as dials.

Re: Virtual Gauges

so this virtual gauge is displayed on our nav screens and is different from those digital gauges sold by apexi etc?

any chance you'll make a HUD version?

oh, to answer your initial question, i would like a programmable shift light.

Re: Virtual Gauges

Kinda like R34 GTR which has everything displayed on a LCD screen, including a G force meter!

Re: Virtual Gauges

Does our cars have a G-Force meter? Ferd be sure to make it compatible with windows hor *wink*

Re: Virtual Gauges

i think defi have an after market head up display. otherwise, the possibilities are endless with a good OBD II diagnostics reader hooked up to a small LCD screen or mini computer.

Re: Virtual Gauges

Jaskin, wait till you see the damn windows hardware for mobyCar sitting on my desk. You sure wont want it. hahahaha.... seriously ugly & bigger...

G-force for acceleration or when turning?

Re: Virtual Gauges

Ferd,

The pic Beem posted is a Defi Head's Up display that projects figures on the windscreen. The display is mostly green in colour and reflects off a piece of window film. There is a smaller version that displays boost pressures.....

Re: Virtual Gauges

yendor, how much are the delfi's going for here? S$600 to S$800?

CyberTron, I think its going for about US$499 or so (with OS) without OS starts at US$399.

BTW, the Mac Mini that is sold for mobyCar has still a valid Apple Care warranty after the necessary modifications.

Cheers!
