Vehicle Inspection - Biased ?

Notice for an inspection came yesterday. So I decided to for a vehicle inspection today since i had some time.

Car in front of mine - 5 minutes to reach the last section. Car behind mine - 5 minutes to reach the last section.

My car - that inspector took 25 minutes. Checked everything - a few times over. Got a torch to start inspection in the bay below then he went out of the bay and got a bigger torch to check the undercarriage. Looked at my cats for a long time. Looked at my exhaust and the headers. Spent a long time looking at the rear axle area as well.

Popped the bonnet and looked especially long at the intake manifold area with the torch light at various angles. At one point, he actually looked like he was going to climb into the engine bay. Then he went back under the bay again to look at the something.

Finally, he whipped out the windscreen test device - tested and looked at the result. Then tried a few more times. Stared at me a few times and then asked his colleague to look under the car and under the bonnet.

Finally he drove my car to the last section .............. and said I failed the windscreen test by a few percent.

But overall, he'll pass me.

Really weird ............. or biased.

Was it a scheduled inspection or an inspection notice out of the blue?
I had someone complain about my E46 320i Sebring exhaust and I was called in for inspection. Some fucks on the road just can't keep their thumbs in their asses.

Re: Vehicle Inspection - Biased ?

Did you ask them directly why so? I would, in a nice manner, and try to get an answer out of them. But that's me.

haha same here, I went for my 1st inspection last month, my car took the longest to clear though. They checked my tints over and over and failed my number plate. As you had mentioned, they looked like they were about to climb into my engine bay. Non of the cars that were there that I saw had their bonnets popped. Only mine. They kept shining their torch lights into my engine bay trying their very best to look for anything illegal so they can book me but fortunately, everything is stock. Not even the air filter haha. The under carriage took quite some time also. After the long delay, they asked me, is my angel lights original? They say many cars on the roads install such lamps and its illegal, so I told the guy, my log card says 320i XL, so XL means Xenon Light. BMW Xenon Lights comes with angel eye, you dunno meh? Original one ma, I said all those other brands copy BMW ma. Then he said no la, cos they don see such angel eyes very often.......and in the end overall passed my car. waste of alot of time man....

Yeah I have had friends who received notices for inspection for very loud exhuast but my friends' cars installed LTA approved aftermarket mufflers, so they had to waste their time to go for inspection. Well looking at STOMP, ppl who install those fancy number plates, tints, etc, also got ppl take picture and complain.

Singaporeans.....cannot make it la, I think such ppl who always like to complain complain complain better be reduced in numbers within a few generations down the road. We need to evolve to improve further......

Most of them knows nothing more than a layman who reads the service manuals unlike LTA inspection center years ago... those were the pros... I got into trouble with them whit my first bike back in 95... Covered up my Exhaust so nicely, they still can tell you which Make/ Model it is...

I managed to get a number of Subarus with knocked through cats through inspection with KB V***M when i was working with a workshop in Ubi (M*W***) some 5 yrs ago too... Didn't even suspect a single wee bit when i presented those cars for Exhaust Inspection when they installed Aftermarket Approved Exhausts with me...

So... and yes yes... I also managed to get my old Honda Civic Esi retrofitted with B18 Engine, Performance header, Loud Exhaust and many many other illegal stuff under the cover of 1 SS exhaust cert... through another inspection center as well...

Re: Vehicle Inspection - Biased ?

so the currently which is the best inspection centre around? i would like to chill through there 5 to 10 minutes once every year. haha

Re: Vehicle Inspection - Biased ?

No point complaining here. Send in an official conplaim to them instead. They might not solve any issues but at least your complaints will create inconvenience for them as they need to investigate and send you reply. The more you all send the more troublesome for them...

Earlier this year, I got fined and penalized for an accident with a motorbike rode by an off duty traffic police. LAN LAN since he us a traffic police and in the end I have to be obedient and let th claim more than $10k of my insurance. Now everything settled, and it's time for me to write in to traffic police demanding for an explanation what they had done to the traffic police since he was riding on the fast lane (lane number 1). I want them to explain to me why they didn't take action against a traffic police who breaks the law if they had not done so. My purpose is to make things difficult for them. :)

Maybe time has changed, the staff nowadays do not know their stuff as well as what their seniors used to be......
