So the policy is screwed from start. Why need to pay for full 10yrs coe in the first place then.

And yes, I too realise many used import are just as expensive as used agent or used PI cars in terms of straight line dep. Which is puzzling to me how they move these cars.

COE can refund at the end of parf period.....and I think there's no 7 or 8 yrs COE, at least not for the market aka garmen price....
Their prices used to be competitive. But u are right, nowadays same same as used agent or used PI cars in terms of straight line dep. Only advantage I can think of is lower prices due to lower OMV, hence more "affordable". But then again might as well get used PI car; at least not so dodgy.

dont say "imported used" cars... some of the 2nd hand cars in the market are asking for a higher price than a brand new car... :lol2:

Brobot, thing is, why must pay upfront n rebate later, instead of paying less upfront? Well maybe garmen will hv difficulty calculating how many COEs to release bla bla bla but they hv oredi screwed it up big time over the last 10 over years anyway.

Agree. Why are the depreciations of cars with $14K COEs and cars with $62K COEs the same? I know that $62K COE cars will have a hard time selling in the second hand market and most, if not all, of them will be scrapped past the 3rd year (after warranty expires). I once owned a second hand Mazda 626 with $62K COE.

In this case, which kind of car would you buy and why? I am talking about cars with lower COE vs higher COE.

End of the day, it's how much depreciation one is willing to pay for COE lor.. now with this high COE, those who bought their cars with lower COE will benefit when they sell their cars (like me). :cloud9:
