Tyre setup

what is the difference between this 2 setups ?

a. front: 235/35/R19 + rear: 265/30/R19 (235/265 combi)
b. front: 225/35/R19 + rear: 255/30/R19 (225/255 combi)

i understand that 235/265 combi is a "common" setup for 19" staggered
i'm thinking to go with setup b because
a. tyre availability -> brand/size
b. cheaper
c. less dragging

what is the side-effect or disadvantage of setup b compare to setup a ?

thanks !

Re: Tyre setup

what's the width on your rims? if 8.5 & 9.5JJ then b setup will be over stretching your 225 & especially 255. dun expect any rim protection from your rubbers with this

btw the savings is only marginal...imo not worth

Re: Tyre setup

front:19x8 & rear:19x9
for better rim protection, i should go with 235/265 combination ?
thanks for the enlightenment.

Re: Tyre setup

Stick to 235/265.

Rim protection depends on sidewall's designs too. Example, given same size, PS2 does not protect lips, but CSC3 does.

Re: Tyre setup

Bridgestone tires generally hv good rim protection as well

Re: Tyre setup

just to share based on what i know that most tyres can fit a range of rim width. however they do have exact fit.

you can check against the specs of the tyres you shortlisted.

for 19 x 8 is 225/35 and 19 x 9 is 255/30

for example:

Tire Specs for Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric

Re: Tyre setup

yup. this is the "recommended" tyre setup for the rim that i'm eyeing
