yah, we were talking about it the other day. We going to share money and test it on MW's ride first, but he refused. I hear this thing can fit the lawn mover as well.

Re: Turbonator - yielded results as high as 35 HP

In theory it should work, but the concensus amongst us is that the gains will probably be much much lower than the 35 bhp even to a minimal gain. I don't think there will be a group buy since no one believes there is such a good deal of US$0.50 per bhp gain. You sure you want to try? Maybe I can get a couple of us to chip in and see if this thing works. Let me know; I know Alvin666 and myself is keen in trying it out, even if just for fun.

Similar to the ADM charger as adverstised in Wheels mag

yah, I saw the advert and noticed the similarity. Maybe can give this fella in Singapore a call to just discuss and get quote, if not too much difference, can try the one in Singapore. The turbonator website looks way too dodgy for me to pass them my credit card info, unless paypal.

I think MRacer is rite....after going thro some forum......most feedback from those had install it say not significant improvement.

Even the ADM Aircharger which carry by local wrkshop......not doing well 2.

Some feedback from installer.....http://www.mycarforum.com/forum/Aftermarket_C5/Performance_F6/ADM_New_Rated_3x_Aircharger_P1071686/

Some Explanation from other Forumer Y it dun work...
The air charger will not help with FC. IF it works, more air means more fuel to get the AFR's correct which means lower FC. Dun forget the extra electrical power it draws means more load on the alternator which places more load on the engine which leads to higher FC as well.

Ok... some points using basic physics and common sense (some mech knowledge was added in for the actuator bits).

1) Unless the elect sc is sealed onto the intake system (doesn't matter where) it is totally useless as the air is just blowing into the engine bay. Well maybe not totally useless as if connected to a CAI, it dose provide some cooler air from outside but is it work paying that amount when a properly designed ram air/cai system will do the same job when the car is moving??

2)If it works and is fixed to the intake system, it has been said to lower top end as it restricts airflow ( i wouldn't be surprised if it was restrictive at all times).

Regardless of how much air it blows, just like a TC or normal SC, as long as you see a neg pressure, the engine is doing all the work and the "device" is just there "for show".

It may work on a small cc car (for e.g. 700cc and below) provided it flows enough air to create a positive pressure (a.k.a. boost). however unless i see an independant lab report showing how much air it blows i will be skeptical of its figures as all signs show that the the power it would receive would be insufficient to get the fan/motor to drive as much air as it claims.

The motor would also need to be strong enough to keep the the air past it at a positive pressure as the air will try and force its way out.

3)To counteract the high rpm restriction, a dual CAI system must have an airbox/filter has to seal off both CAI's (if not refer to point 1).

The problem with that is that if the elec SC does work, the area infront of the filter (a.k.a. the airbox) will be of a higher pressure because of the elec SC. however as the pressure in the other CAI will be lower, the air will exit through it.

The only way would be some form of actuator to close off the normal CAI when on positive pressure and open it on neg pressure.

If air is being sucked up via both CAI's then obviously it doesnt work (refer to 2).

Conclusion:
I'm 99% sure that it does not work (the 1% is for the really small engined cars).

Think what you want to think, but butt dynos (pun intended ) do not count for anything as your perception is altered by both your expectations and psychological state.
And before anyone quotes the "dyno figures" and "testimonials" that have "appeared", find me one thats NOT from autodesigns or a company that sells or has a stake in the product.

Edit: In NA guise, at an AFR of 12:1 my 1.8l car breaths in 263cfm a minute at 4500rpm (double that for me redlining her at 9000rpm). Since she's of the TC version, with the turbocharger at 1bar (14psi) at that rpm i'm assuming it would flow at least double those amount (to maintain the pressure). Do you think any elect SC can handle that???

Re: Turbonator - yielded results as high as 35 HP

i dont see any clever pun with the word butt dyno.

Re: Turbonator - yielded results as high as 35 HP

the description of this turbonator sounds familiar to what my fren told he he had installed on his euro R, quite favourable comments from him in terms of performance and fc, car more responsive when he step on accelerator plus fc better. made me damn gian to find it but alas he havent got the time to bring me to install it. told me it was some patented thing by a local guy, that guy somemore in NS....clever kid man

Re: Turbonator - yielded results as high as 35 HP

if for 69 bucks, you get 5bhp, already worth it liao.

Re: Turbonator - yielded results as high as 35 HP

anyone getting it? :)

if getting do let me know... COUNT ME in... hope can install in E34 bah...

Re: Turbonator - yielded results as high as 35 HP

Is the group buy/ test on? Pl let me know, keen to join.

Re: Turbonator - yielded results as high as 35 HP

let me noe too, looks interesting.....
