Re: Turbo? in BMW?

No one i know does a custom turbo in their cars.

Even in the USA, custom turbo setups are rare..im not an engine expert so i can't tell you why turbos are not as preferred as to superchargers.

Superchargers are the preferred ways of forced induction, both in Singapore and the States. Very simple and direct bolt on system.

General installation in SG ranges from 10 - 13 K.

You can go www.e46fanatics.com to check out this thread in the Force Induction forum. There's a company in Turkey doing turbos for BMWs called DA Motorsports.

DA Motorsports have both Turbo and SC kits available for BMWs depending on the engine.

On the contrary, there are many turbo kits available in the US for BMWs. Unfortunately, most of them are for the old e36 US spec M3s. The newer Ms and e46s usually run with SCs instead, but there are turbo kits out there for them as well. These are more expensive then a comparable SC kit.

Re: Turbo? in BMW?

Most Turbo kit you find on the net are meant for LHD (Left Hand Drive) so it won't go into our RHDs. So far, I have only come across AA Tuning to have manufacture 2 kits for selected E36 models. I believe there must some turbo lead down under or other countries using RHD.

SC on the other hand do not have this distinction, hence it is more popular. Also boost come on the moment the engine is started.. almost zero lag.

It does appear that many bros are interested in FI (forced induction) including myself and I hope more experience bros out there can continue with this thread and give us some good pointers.

Re: Turbo? in BMW?

Seen the kit before, just not too sure if they have a good track record. Not many people it seems have talked about DA Motorsports before... think its a Turkish company...

Re: Turbo? in BMW?

Its gonna be hard.

1. Manufacturer needs to be endorsed by the manufactuer of the car.
2. Need to be TUV approved or the country respective official testing centres
3) Specs
etc etc...

I heard from a friend whose friend got a approved TRD SC kit installed into his IS200....the spec and paper work almost the thickness of a Yellow Pages Buyer's Guide !!

Re: Turbo? in BMW?

i seen a black celica SCed, perform some moves on the road. Its SC whine is pretty loud. The car is very fast...... but not that fast. heheh
