Touch-up scratches

Kena some pretty deep scratches on my car boot lid. Going to send it in for touch-up. I was given some recommendations like ADSM, Chipsmaster, Yew Lip etc...Which one has the best workmanship and the paint matches best with our BMW paintwork?

Re: Touch-up scratches

I will be surprised if someone has tried all the workshops u listed and therefore rank for u. To add to your choice, Mike of Sin Wee Chuan:)

Re: Touch-up scratches

no lah not asking for ranking bro...just want to ask for comments on whoever has visited any of those places

Re: Touch-up scratches

Depends on how much you love your ride vs the amount you're willing to pay, I guess. As for me, I'd go to Sin Wee Chuan if it were for body spray painting..no 2 ways about it.

Re: Touch-up scratches

if got some scratches on the boot lid, u think need to spray the whole lid? or can only do that part only

Re: Touch-up scratches

Chances are, they'd tell you to spray the whole lid. I might be wrong, but I do believe that no spray paint shop in Sillypore will be able to spray just one portion without having 2 tone effects after that.

Actually, not really leh... just did a respray on my bootlid cuz it was scratched real bad. Yew Lip just sprayed it and blended it in... Looks perfect! Liked the work and the price!

Cheers!

Sam, didn't Yew Lip tell u that if juz respray the localised damaged part, you will see a difference 6 mths down the road? That's what they told me.

Re: Touch-up scratches

I had another panel which had localised scratches and was sprayed, and that was a yr ago, no problems till now. can't see any difference :)

Re: Touch-up scratches

I think certain colours are more prone to this than others. Black and white I think not advisable to spray partial, but steel grey should be more OK.

Re: Touch-up scratches

lucky mine silver gray so maybe don't need to spray whole boot lid...can save some money

Re: Touch-up scratches

Nothing big deal la, my brother hit kurb and got numerous bad scratches on the lower side lip of the rear bumper lor.

I must say tat Yew Lip did a great job on it, the spray portion matches the original w/o a trace of diff/demage at all. :)

As long as the workshop does a good job blending the new paint with the old it should be fine.

Don't think so. I needed to get a small bumper job done at Yew Lip and was advised by Angie that if I spray localised area only, the difference will show in 6 mths. Not sur eif it is becoz my ride is black in colour. To make it less noticeable, she recommended spraying half the bumper. So best solution will actually be to spray the whole bumper.

I am juz gonna use touch-up paint and leave the rest to Cazcomp (the guys who Zaino my ride to see if they can grind and polish away). Respray will be last option. Full day respray too time consuming for me and I need my ride.:)

I only speak with her dad as far as spray job is concerned, experienced enough to give you the right advise & price. Whenever I see Angie only tell her, you look very good today.

Re: Touch-up scratches

I'd knew all this while why McCoy loiters around Yew Lip every Saturday.

Honestly, the choice of which shop to go to is a function of (1) the extent of the damage; (2) the budget; (3) the degree of love for your ride.

(1) The worse the damage, the more you should go for Mike and Ah Boon.

(2) The more you can afford, the more you should go for Mike and Ah Boon.

(3) The more you love your car, the more you would wanna go for a complete paint, not partial.

I have nothing against Yew Lip. In fact, I have been engaging them to paint smaller parts (door handles, bumper, spoilers) and touchup my rims. But on spraypainting major parts like bonnet, doors, and trunk, you cannot dispute that Mike or Ah Boon have better workmanship.

The other issue is that the rows of workshops where Yew Lip is situated creates a mist of paint in the air. If you leave your cars for a day or two there, there will be a layer of paint on your car. Touch your car and you could feel that the surface has roughen somewhat. Just my personal experience to share.
