to piggyback or not to piggyback

i currently have a F20 and went to mcwell a month ago to have my grill changed. i got recommended to change to the K&N filter and to piggyback my car with the ecutech tuning box. some bros here say its better to keep it stock. i would like to get some valuable feedback on such a tuning box as tuning from 136bhp- ~170bhp is rather tempting

No offence to any workshop but I feel that it would be better to go to the usual BMW specialists. You don't wanna screw around with anything that deals with engine parameters.

i think give it a miss. they do not specialise in BMW

Re: to piggyback or not to piggyback

The 116 and 118 shares the same engine so the tune to get more hp and torque is there. But go with a reputable tuner or product - Hartge,Hamann,AC Schnitzer, Kelleners. Saw some buzz around Swiss chiptec with one of the site sponsors - ask around for feedback with the other bros who installed it.

Re: to piggyback or not to piggyback

Thank you guys for the valuable feedback! I think I will go with the brands red bean has stated. Shall go do some homework on their product. :)
