Re: Tire Prices?

Hi Bro

I just changed a set of new CSC3 18" with Yap Brothers at Paya Ubi. They were the cheapest by far for the same CSC3 tires I was looking for.
Did this after taking almost 2 weeks to research and driven to various places...(Stamford, LS, etc...)

Sorry for replying late, I was away and now catching up on this.

I dunno where I kept my receipt - but I remembered paying about $1200 for the 4 tires that included GST and Balancing. and a free session of tire rotation and balancing in the next 10,000km

I suggest that you plan some time to drive around and do comparisons.
I was researching other brands.. but I am not a racer or track user... I do occasional 'hi-speeds' on streets and so I was thinking of maintaining and using Conti tires as they are pretty decent for everyday road use and occasional flings at hi speed.

My tires are 245/40/R18 - so you can go do your research and price comparison

Pirelli too expensive for similar spec,
BridgestoneEagle F1 (I read some where on web) was prone to cracking,
Japanese brand Toyo was about $303 (w/o GST) each
Kumho dont have sizes for mine

I have had good experiences with using Conti tires (especially the ContiSport series) - so far and I don't think I have any incentive to change to another brand yet.

Didn't try going to Stamford Tyres (I think they are the ones who carry a lot of Continental) anymore, because I was ripped off not once, but twice in 2 different locations in my ownership time of owning and driving Beemers shod with Conti tires. So, I promised myself not to give them any more business after giving them a 2nd chance from the 1st bad experience.

I was seriously looking at LS Tires (just a few doors away from Yap Bros) in Paya Ubi.
The reason was that LS offered to also help me removed some kerb rash on my rims, at about $80 each rim if I bought the tires from them. I worked out the sums and figured I saved more with buying the tires from Yap bros and going to my other workshop to work on removing the kerb rash on my rims later since I am planning to do a paintwork touchup on my entire car (already 5 years, and it has suffered the usual nominal scratches from the Wife's parking and driving).

So good luck hunting around. Some weeks back in the newspapers, Continental was reported as planning to increase their tire prices as Rubber prices are going up.

You can get a first indication of the prices of various tyres by going to Latest Tyres Prices | Buy Tyres Online in Singapore, China, Hong Kong Malaysia & Korea | Tyrepac ? Asia?s First Tyre Portal Just enter your tyre size and the website will then list all tyres available for that size and their prices (which includes GST, fitting and balancing). Sometimes tyrepac is cheaper than others, sometimes more expensive depending on their special offers. So you still need to shop around.

Re: Tire Prices?

I got a set of 4 tyres - 19" CSC3 for S$2k from a shop in Ubi. Shopowner is nice guy and I think this was pretty cheap as I asked around other shops and they were much higher.

Re: Tire Prices?

Not LS. They were a bit more ex. This tyre shop is along one of the Kaki Bukit roads. I don't have the exact address cos the card is in my car and not with me now. Not sure if I can post here or not. He was recommended to me by a friend. Anyway, his pricing was quite good for me cos I got the tyres with a set of rims as well.

Its at Kaki Bukit Industrial Terrace. I'm not sure if I can post the details here but if you need the contact details, let me know.

The tire is quite ok. I changed out of stock immediately upon getting my car so can't make a comparison. 19" does have quite good grip.

235 for all 4?
Anyway, $500 per tyre is good price.

You can post details, it's ok. This is just sharing good experience, no issue one.
Otherwise, what's the use of a forum.....;)

Re: Tire Prices?

C3PO,
Thks. Ya this forum good for sharing contacts

My tyres are 245/35/19 all-around. I got it at $500 per piece but I got a set of M5 looklike rims as well. Will there be a big difference between 235 and 245 pricing?

The contact details are :

Chang Choon Tyre & Battery Trading
No.3 Kaki Bukit Industrial Terrace,
Singapore 416091
(Near Kaki Bukit Road 3)
Tel : 6841 5393

Look for Paul (Hp : 9450 9711)

This shop is not very big with a super wide range. It is average size only. A friend of mine passed me his contact. Friendly guy.

I was looking for rims and tyres and asked around a few shops and found his to be the cheapest.

If any of you go down and speak to him, you can tell him Jerome passed you the contact. Then again, I only met him once so he may not remember my name so just tell him the guy with the white 5 series that changed for the M5 replica rims a month ago.
Maybe you can also say the one that NETS went over the limit and he had to drive me to the nearby ATM to draw money to pay :laughing:
