Lehman did very well for Arsenal last night.... may become permanent signing again.

I hope he plays this Sun against L'Pool instead of Almunia.

Re: The Barclays Premiership / Champions League Thread

Actually Man Utd just needed to win the next 4 BPL games...... Newcastle Away, Everton Home, Arsenal Away and Chelsea Home.

Blackburn Away and Blackpool Home are just irrelevant if they could win the next 4.

Re: The Barclays Premiership / Champions League Thread

April 11 (Bloomberg) -- U.S. billionaire Stan Kroenke
agreed the terms of a recommended mandatory cash offer for
Arsenal that values the English Premier League soccer club at
about 731 million pounds ($1.2 billion).
Kroenke, who owns close to 30 percent of the London team,
reached undertakings to acquire the 16 percent stakes held by
Danny Fiszman and Nina Bracewell-Smith, Kroenke Sports
Enterprises said today in a statement distributed by RNS
newswire.
“We are excited about the opportunity to increase our
involvement with and commitment to Arsenal,” Kroenke said in
the statement. “Arsenal is a fantastic club with a special
history and tradition and a wonderful manager in Arsene Wenger.
We intend to build on this rich heritage and take the club to
new success.”
By securing both holdings, Kroenke has taken his stake to
62.89 percent. A holding of 30 percent or more triggers a
mandatory takeover bid under stock exchange rules. Arsenal’s
second-biggest shareholder is Russian billionaire Alisher
Usmanov, with more than 27 percent. Unlike Kroenke, he does not
have a seat on the board of the club. Rollo Head, a spokesman
for the metals magnate, declined to comment.
KSE has offered to buy the remaining stock for 11,750
pounds a share.
Bracewell-Smith’s family has been connected with the club
since 1938. In April last year, she hired Blackstone Group LP to
sell the stock after being forced off the board two years
earlier. Kroenke asked the remaining board members to stay in
place.

‘Players and Fans’

“I am confident of Arsenal’s continued success both on and
off the pitch and believe that Stan Kroenke will continue to
develop the club in a manner true to its heritage for the
players and the fans,” Bracewell-Smith said in a statement.
Arsenal is the second-richest English team in terms of
revenue, behind Manchester United, and fifth in Europe,
according to accountant Deloitte LLP.
Arsenal’s last trophy was the F.A. Cup in 2005. Some fans
have complained that the current owners and coach Wenger aren’t
spending the money on talent to keep up with teams including
Chelsea, owned by Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich, and
Manchester City, bought in 2008 by Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al
Nahyan of Abu Dhabi. Liverpool was bought by the owners of the
Boston Red Sox last year, and the U.S.-based Glazer family owns
Manchester United.

U.S. Interests

Wenger said he welcomed the move by Kroenke, who also has
U.S. sports interests. He owns the Denver Nuggets basketball
team, the National Football League’s St. Louis Rams, the
National Hockey League’s Colorado Avalanche and Major League
Soccer’s Colorado Rapids.
“I believe he has the best interests of Arsenal at
heart,” Wenger said. “He understands the club’s heritage and
traditions and our ambition to run the club in a way which
protects our long term future.”
Arsenal won 3-1 at Blackpool yesterday, and is second in
the Premier League, seven points behind Manchester United. The
league represents Arsenal’s final chance of silverware this
season as it already exited the F.A. Cup and the Champions
League and lost to Birmingham in the League Cup final.

Arsenal Bid/Ask 1136000/1180000 :boring:

Re: The Barclays Premiership / Champions League Thread

Is the deal an LBO? The Glazers paid $1.47B for Man Utd but $850M was debts..... struggled to pay off the GBP60M interests a year......

Not an LBO...

4. Confirmations to the Board of Arsenal

Mr Kroenke and KSE have confirmed to the Board of Arsenal that:

· it is their current intention that, if the Offer becomes or is
declared unconditional, KSE will not seek to delist the Arsenal Shares from
the PLUS markets, even if it acquires sufficient shares pursuant to the Offer
to enable it to do so (unless Arsenal's PLUS corporate adviser advises at any
time there is not sufficient liquidity in Arsenal Shares to maintain an
orderly market in the shares);

· there is no current expectation that sufficient acceptances of the
Offer will be received such that the statutory thresholds in the Companies Act
for squeezing-out minority shareholders will be reached (in which case
non-accepting shareholders would not be required to sell their Arsenal
Shares); however, KSE recognises that, in the event that the relevant
statutory thresholds are reached, it may be required to buy out minority
shareholders, and in these circumstances it may enforce the compulsory
acquisition provisions which would force minority shareholders to sell their
shares;

· it is their current intention that, if the Offer becomes or is
declared unconditional, they will continue to support and adhere to the
self-sustaining business model hitherto pursued by the Board of Arsenal;

· it is their current intention that, if the Offer becomes or is
declared unconditional, existing employment rights of the executive management
team and the employees of Arsenal will be fully safeguarded, and the current
Board of Arsenal will be invited to remain in place, to assist in ensuring
future success on and off the pitch; and

· the Offer will not be funded by way of any debt finance (banks
loans, payment in kind loans or other debt or quasi-debt interest bearing
obligations) for which the payment of interest on, repayment of or security
for any liability (contingent or otherwise) will depend on the business of
Arsenal.

Man utd no Rooney.
Man city no tevez.

Re: The Barclays Premiership / Champions League Thread

beautiful first time effort from Carroll.
and his towering frame aided him for the 2nd.
sandwiched between a nice Kuyt strike in the middle.

Good day at the office. ;)

Re: The Barclays Premiership / Champions League Thread

Arsenal playing Liverpool this Sunday. The Gunners' shaky central defence may have a tough time marking the lanky Carroll . :(

I think Chicarito and Berbatov can perform better than Dzeko and Balotelli.
