Stubborn Tar

Re: Stubborn Tar

U can try most of the available rim cleaners out there. One of those I've tried is from the Black Magic brand (available at Shell) - Wheel Cleaner.

It's a liquid spray and it dissolves the tar very quickly. Just spray on the affected area, wait a couple of seconds and the tar should go off easily (depending on how severe the area is).

Normal car wash shampoo won't work on tar thus the need for stronger solutions. It's pretty strong so I wouldn't leave the solution on the rims for too long.

Regards,
Alvin.

Stubborn tar! yeah I hate that. Yes, if you using those concentrated rims cleaner, just spray a concentrate squirt onto the dry rims. Soak for a while then rinse. If u kiasu like me, can also use a wheel brush to scrub.

Or you can also use my cheapskate method if u dont want to buy those rims cleaner.....semi-concentrated MAMA LEMON dish washing liquid....kekeke... Aaa I tell u this mamalemon is real good, and smells good thereafter also :)

Re: Stubborn Tar

try autosol.....it works.....too..

wow..mamalemon.....maybe i try it next time, cheaper alternative.... :laughlik:

Re: Stubborn Tar

Autosol never fails me....

With regular wash, there shouldnt be tar stains that is difficult to remove.
I Wash.. i meant my maid washes my rims (only) everyday..

Re: Stubborn Tar

Aaa Como, u know what. This Mama Lemon thing was told to me by one HIA-DEE who used to send his car for detailing and paint protection. The place that did his car actually told him to use MAMALEMON.....You see....one bottle of MAMALEMON cost like $3 for a litre at NTUC. You walk over to the car acc section in same NTUC and a bottle of RIMS cleaner cost $15...... thats one smart way of making money ...kekeke

I want to try too.... if mamalemon can remove tar stains from rims, I m now worried abt using mamlemon for washing dishes.. can be very toxic.. Takes far bit of chemical to remove tar stains from rims?

Now question is "IS MAMALEMON SAFE FOR DISH WASHING"?

Re: Stubborn Tar

Best is McGuire's Wheel Cleaner (alloy-safe) and the McGuire Rim Brush (soft tipped). Spray on (< 1 min), scrub, hose off. Can clean 4 wheels in 5 mins, assuming you have 5-spoke design. The brush will not scratch your alloy wheels.

Those who visited the Esso station wash on Steven's Road will realise that they used their own concoction - but equally powerful in removing dust and tar.

Could be Mama Lemon or some washing powder (washing detergents for clothes are meant to dissolve oil-products).....

Wahhaha.. I guess it's the toughness on grease and other oil-based dirt that makes it so power.
