Steering Vibrations

my steering feels odd for the last one week. when driving, i can feel vibrations on the steering but is not the usual mild high frequency vibrations. instead, it felt like im driving over speed regulating strips, there is this thud thud feel on the steering.

the only change i did was engine oil and brake pad replacement last sat... and align and rotate wheels after that. could the wheels be the cause? im on stock 17" ps3. rims used for 6 mths liao.

too bad workshops are closed tomolo. getting on my nerve esp last nite when i drove on sle and could feel it all the way home :furious:

at what speed does the vibration occur?

Re: Steering Vibrations

more prononunce above 90kmph

braking ok, only when cruising

juz increased front tyre pressure from 210 to 220... somehow it helped but still can feel

tomolo will go cruise around in the morning to test again the various scenarios when it is most irritating

could be after the rotate of wheels has done then the wheels wasnt balance well........

cheers

Re: Steering Vibrations

If it only vibrates when braking, it means your rotors are warped

If cruising and not because of wheel alignment or balancing, then one of your rims are bent

Re: Steering Vibrations

Sounds like unbalanced or distorted wheel(s), warped spacers or hub rings not fitting well.

I had experienced steering wheel vibration above 120km/h when using non-OEM rims with hub rings and had gone back to OEM rims since. Avoid using hub rings if you can.
