software update for n20 520/528

SA told me got software update for car.

Anyone updated your software recently?

Did it change the effectiveness of your piggyback like jb n20 or tmc?

I assume coding done prior to update will be overwritten?

Nice SA you have. Normally they won't do updates unless have problems.

Confirm all coding will be wiped out.

you are talking about software update for idrive or new firmware for car's ECU? If only idrive, then coding will be intact. In fact they just release new software not long ago. You can just download from bmw website and do it on your own.

I think there will some be influence as the piggyback manipulates the DME versus a flash ........

I wasn't told what is updated leh...except update will take 4-5hours ...sounds like serious stuff, since coding only took 10mins. Now waiting patiently at home for SA to call...

Pray that my little magic box will still work it's magic...

I wasn't told what is updated leh...except update will take 4-5hours ...sounds like serious stuff, since coding only took 10mins. Now waiting patiently at home for SA to call...

If 4 to 5 hours most likely it's an ECU update and this would wipe out any ECU tuning. As for non ECU based tuning, the updated ECU software may not be compatible with your old tuning and may cause problem. Your tuner should provide an update.

Collected car yesterday evening and fitted back my tmc box.

Power seems to be better than before, especially at 2K+ rpm. First and second gear also feel less sluggish compared to previous.

Lost all coding.

FC sucks now, but I don't care.
