Another SAD case...
My fren also kana,below is his ordeal
1. insurance company, firstly will not be bothered about doing the legwork for u. Be prepared to go to the Malaysia police station a few times to sort out paper work. After passing those docs to Insurance co. ,you will need to sit out at least 6-8 weeks for the insurance co. to `finish' the investigation.
get the name of the investigating officer with you from the malaysia police. he will be your point of contact. pester them, otherwise they will take their sweet time.
2.my fren only got 70% of my car value back. it took about 4months in total. the best part is the insurance company will `own' your car including the COE. it will be sold to the highest bidder over the internet. your car plate also gone forever. LTA will not allow u to register the new car in your old plate. said due to theft, they may mistake u for the thief if they see the car.
He is lucky to get 70%, some cases only get 50%. Whatever it is ,dont drive blingx2 car to JB.
There is another case at tm sentosa , one shot 8 sg cars kana, u go police station, they eating their kuey n tell u to queue up behind.

But insurance pay only market value..so if market value less than what u owe the finance , then u have to topup some more and no car...I'm not sure if we can force the insurer to give us back an equivalent car instead.

Wah Less than market value...like that have to check policy next renewal to include clause where they will give me another car...equivalent number of yrs ..number gone..small thing

hence..... ALWAYS ALWAYS LOCK the damn car door.... even if you are out of your car for few seconds.... or pumping petrol or buying roadside fruits with your car parked right in front of the damn fruit stall.....

yea, full locked the steering wheel to either direction after parking head in, i did that even though it was a rented car
maybe all these preventive actions will make they go after other cars

I had a metallic blue civic last time w big rear spoiler, n that attracted more attention than my current silver m3...
also avoid JB city altogether unless w a big grp. only once ive driven via woodlands myself n that was to meet a grp for breakfast at the otah stall after the checkpt.
usually i drive straight to my destination n never stop along d way. Its safer at 12am in KL than daytime in JB IMO...

Honestly, what is happening!?!?!
When I was much younger - OK, 10, 15 years ago, a road trip from here to Penang was like a fcuking adventure to die for ... long drive up the NSHW, stopping for food at the rest-stops, and exiting the NSHW to get some thrills off some pretty good B roads - there is a stretch up Telok Anson (Telok Intan) all the way up to near Lumut that is like our 40Tiang - except this one goes on for fcuking miles, and there's paddy fields right & left to it, and mountains in the background....
Now, every other day, I hear about cars being jacked, drivers being kidnapped and there was some news about a Ferrari who got separated from the convoy being chased by a Merc some years ago...
