Run in

Hi all,

Still pretty new and thus will like to ask all the guru's here. Do u guys do a run in for the engine after collecting your ride? I shd be collecting my ride in Aug or latest mid Aug, and need to drive in to KL by end Aug, therefore worry that by than my ride still hv not run in (if there's a need to). Bcos I always follow the "old thgts" that all new car better to run in engine before yr 1st servicing.

Any guru's can advise on this??? :thinking: :thinking: :thinking:

Hi coolman,

the engine already run in but it is always to be safe....just drive max 90km first till 1500km then probably can rev but don't do hard rev till 6000rpm...............

ya that's what i hv in mind as well but cruising at 90km along NSHW is terrible man.....

Mine colour is Manaco Blue..... E90 - 323i

really leh. i no bluff. many ppl think cannot move, but 1st gear off the light at 2500 rpm is quite sufficient liao. Then gradually bring the car up to speed on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th at 2000 rpm respectively. dun say lambo or ferrari, but enough to smoke your average sonata or toyota crown taxi liao.

maybe next time u see a bimmer moving off the lights slowly u know its me liao. hehe

But pls try and rev it above 3000rpm once in a while. work the engine a little after your 5000kn run in. Else your engine become sluggish.

+1. Did the same as above for first 500km, but got break it 2 times lah

After 500, I frequently cruise at 100km, and once a while, rev a bit lah.

Bro, 500km ok lah, but I think that's the minimum.

Monitor your speed n rev meter until you get your best feel for the 1st 500. Then you can try to pick it up for the next 200 - 300.

If I didn't understand wrongly, the comp in the ride can read your driving style. Heard it's programmed that way. Correct me if I am wrong bros.

So if after the first 2000 you still do comfort driving, maybe you have to re-adjust your ride to change its adaptability.

But I don't think you can tahan till 2000 lah:nehnehhh: :nehnehhh: :nehnehhh:

Yes they still selling. It's jux a de-tuned version of 325. But I am sure coolman will fast leg fast hand go and do something about it want lah
