respray queries - carbon black

Dear all,

F10 over a year old in jet black. Sent it to get it washed and this supposed detailer scratched my car so badly it damaged the base paint.

Long story short, thinking of getting the car repainted in carbon black. What does everyone think? Interior is cinnamon brown.

By right non-metallic paint much easier to scratch, and jet black is the worst in this respect.Carbon black will offer better protection from scratches but Carbon black is actually blue and not black. If you want black go for Sapphire Black. Got any pics of the scratch?

Yeah i understand that carbon black is dark blue. I am also contemplating on wrapping my car matt metallic midnight black.

Detailer is in brunei, authorised dealer for meguire's washing products.

Dont have pix but scratches go down so far that its gotten white.

Re: respray queries - carbon black

I think they use scotch brite to buff the wax off ur car…. Meguire's authorised dealer somemore..Win

Re: respray queries - carbon black

Might be scotchbrite with an additional wipe from sandpaper possibly!

Going to bang my hands on their manager's table saturday and shout at them!

Re: respray queries - carbon black

If they scratched it, they have to make it good for you.
If not take pics, respray jet black and go to small claims tribunal.

Re: respray queries - carbon black

I was contemplating on seeking recourse in the event that they didnt make good on rectifying or reimbursing me for their damaged caused however i would likely make more in a day than what i would likely get in small claims to bother.

We'll see what happens come saturday. Will keep you guys updated.

Re: respray queries - carbon black

It is not about that.
But if you let them go, they will do it to another. Perhaps with less earning capacity.
I will give it to him, regardless of costs.

Does Brunei have small claims court ?

Re: respray queries - carbon black

Brunei does have a small claims court, unfortunately the small claims court prohibits legal representation by admitted lawyers unless that lawyer is acting on behalf of himself.

Fyi, i work as an energy projects & infra lawyer. The amount of time for preparation and time off required to recover something along the lines of 1.5k max (respray of the damaged paint areas @ the bmw dealership) isnt worth it for me - i would likely be loosing more on unpaid leave.

Dont worry though, i plan on giving them a piece of my mind and will be looking for some form of compensation. Not taking no for an answer. These so called detailers are an absolute menace & attempt to hid their liability through application of temporary glaze. These shoddy practices are insane.
