Removing rear speaker deck (E46 sedan)

Can someone tell me if I need to remove the rear C-pillar trim (the one with the light) in order to remove the rear speaker deck?

I was told:

1. remove the rear bench lower seat (lift up, and pull towards the front)
2. remove the rear upper seat (you will see three bolts)

Anyone knows if I need to remove the rear C-pillar trim as well?

yes you need to remove them.
