Problems in Starting the car

I have run into this problem yesterday....

on the norm, I am able to start my 318i on the crank on the ignition key but when i tried to do it yesterday, I was not able to get it going.

What I have done to work around this is to try to pumb onto the accerator and couple with the crank on the key, the car come to life !!

My query is that is this somthing out of the norm ? It would be great if someone can adivce on this i and what is the possible fault before I head for the workshop.

I had the same problem before and have my idle valve change and throttle cleaned. It is a common problem for 318.

Adrian, another areas that you can look at are fuel pressure regulator or fuel pump. Hope this helps. By the way for your info, I had my idle valve changed at outside workshop for $300
