Problem when accelerating over 4000RPM

So today I was merging onto the CTE and accelerated a bit when the car suddenly had a loss of power and felt like one of the cylinders wasn't working. There were no error codes or messages about reduced power, the computer seemed to think all was fine.

Stopped on the side, turned off and on the engine and all was fine again until the next time I hit 4000RPM.

I'm driving an E92 335i N54 engine. Could it be the dreaded fuel pump or could it be that I only need a new fuel/air filter? (never changed those yet). Car just went off warranty so if it's the fuel pump that would really suck.

Anyone have any insight?

Besides fuel pump, could be a faulty ignition coil or spark plug?

Check whether does it "twitch" at low rpm?

Best to send to a workshop to do a thorough check.

Good luck.

Could be fuel injector too.

Sounds like fuel pump. Is there a slight delay when u start the car?ie a 1 or 2 sec crank before the engine fires up. Any erratic idling?
These were the symptoms I experienced before my hpfp failed. At first I thought it was coz I pumped 95.

Hi Pinky,

Non of the symptoms you've offered occured. Milleage is 42K ++ '08 E93 335i. Situation occured on the highway similar to TS. But I started the machine this morning without a hitch. A split second no load Rev after warming up to 4K rpm did not show any fault code. Reset JB3 to stage 2 (was in stage 4) and drove to work between 1.8K to 3.6K rpm without further indication.

Machine performance parameters and indication nominal.

As what TS mentioned...I dare not bring up to 4K rpm....wonder if any kind soul could advise further...
Yes, Machine is PI and warranty bye bye liao...:whattheh:

Thanks a Million

Hi,

The symptom that you had described seem like one of the ignition coil needs to be changed on one of the cyclinder.

Thanks for the advise Sal,

Juz had an engine diagnostic carried yesterday....it says my Coolant Pump Fail....its a mighty 1K plus job pluas parts !! Now I am confuse with engine check light on and coolant pump fail...shouldn't it be a high temp light and limp mode on on both situation ? :ultrasho:

Anyway change m coolant pump and see what's next....seems like everything is going after my warranty ......&^%#
