Prefl 320i on 19 inch rims. Advice needed

Dear bros,

Due to backside itchy, went to get a used 19inch Breyton rims. Front 8.5 J ET 30 and Rear 9.5 J ET 35

I am currently running on Front tyres 235/35/19 and rear tyres 265/30/19.

Brand of tyres unknown like cheapo kind. Nexen tyres or something.

Previously was on 18inch all rounded. However after trying these new setup, tend to find the car pick up weak and somehow will feel is like heavier even on high speed.

Understand tt Breyton rims are heavy itself.

Any bros out there can advice is it normal for this setup or is it the tyres giving this issue?

Was thinking either to change tyres or just move back to 18inch instead. But I just love the rims to be big!

Thank you!

Re: Prefl 320i on 19 inch rims. Advice needed

Rotational mass is the issue. The size is secondary as a factor.

Weigh the rim and tyre and see if you can reduce it by as much as possible.

Re: Prefl 320i on 19 inch rims. Advice needed

Hi bro, thanks for the reply.

Weigh the rim and tyre.. Shall head to the shop soon.

Are my tires profile suitable for my ride?

Wanna know any bros out there having same ride and same rims size also having this issue?

Probably I might be sensitive but the ride now feels like I have 2 adults at my rear paseenger area when I was on 18 inch wheels.

Re: Prefl 320i on 19 inch rims. Advice needed

The profile and offset etc is good for your ride.

It's about the RM. Get the lightest tyre you can find. I would say the rims too but .........

Maybe increase tyre pressure ......

Re: Prefl 320i on 19 inch rims. Advice needed

With such nice rims, you need to let your neighbours beside you during the traffic light to admire a while more.
For best pick up, change to 16". Lights turn green liao faster floor and get away.

Anyway, iirc, the lighest 19" tyre is the PSS.

Im on 19" 235/265 PSS @34/36psi. So far feels ok for me....cause stock set up stayed with me for less than a week.

You got a point.

TS, check your tyre pressure. 18 to 19 won't feel much diff, your tyres could likely be under inflated.

Yup the tyres was pumped at 34/36 psi. Will check it tml if theres any leak.

I also thought 18 to 19 shouldnt have any big differences. But when I press the accelerator, it just gave me the old feel when I was driving my offroad vehicle with AT tyres on them.

Whenever my car does that, I go mod something eg. ///M exhaust or SW or intakes or scoops or headlights etc etc. Each time it makes my car go vrrroooooooommmm!!! again. And when the old feel comes back, keep modding...

Roger bro Red_Bean_Bun will try it out.

Bro seanskye, for a 4pot engine doubt have any good mods for hp/tprque gains. Even tuning gain of 10hp quite pointless.

Didnt research when I bought this car. Then to regret not getting a 325 instead. So live with it and make car nice nice

4pot or 6pot, both still BMWs. Just enjoy the ride and sheer driving pleasure............

1 more thing to add. I changed OEM absorbers like 2 weeks ago. However my front seems to be higher than my front. Brand Sachs. My rear was also changed to Sachs

Is tt normal? I understand new absorbers need time to seed in and should drop slightly abit. However till today still same same.

At different locations still like that ?

Maybe ground not level ?

It's likely the spring.

Understand from Rod that no matter stock or aftermarket springs, they are built to make the front higher (or look higher), approx. half to a finger gap difference.

Tried both H&R & Schnitizer, their the same.

Should have went for coilover instead to get the buar tor kar look..

Red_Bean_Bun bro tried the tyre pressure. There's a slight improvement! Much better!

Doubt was the spring issue. As intially I was running on 18inch full stock springs and absorbers. The height can tell front bonnet slightly nose dive and is lower.

When I changed all 4 absorbers using same spring also same.

Then I went change springs. Dislike the height went back stock springs, and happen the 1 front absorber lost thread, hence change new absorbers again for both front. After tt realise height infront increase. Probably will take time for the absorber to sit in properly.

However past 2 weeks. And I just measured with my fingers, front wheels can put 4 fingers. Rear wheels 2 fingers only.

Just saw another e90 on stock 16inch same model. His front was also lower.

Yup did heard from fren BMW front is normally higher than rear. But mine quite obvious.

I hope its the absorbers need time to set it. Else am thinking putting back my H&R springs for the front and leave the rear as it is. Weird?

H&R spring with blistien B8 shocks. Swee swee! Ride feels fine with me, wife, 14 mth old som and helper. Not harsh as experienced by some.

Discussions on tyres on several forums already.
My 2 cents: I will not change to broad tyres unless there's enough power to take advantage of extra grips, otherwise it will drag the car and slow the acceleration. Anything below 200 HP I will forget about big tyres.

It's definitely not a good idea to combine both stock & aftermarkets spring. Ergonomic & aerodynamic will be compromise & bet the comfort should be shitty.
