Piggybacks for our E46's

Done intake. exhaust.
some minor ignition tweaks.
Figure next best thing is to tune up the car.

Don't expect much either way. 10hp, maybe 15 max.
but it's more about optimising performance. Smoothening the curve.
maybe get a lil bit better fuel efficiency along the way.

BVO, J4C reflash is pretty dear.
Costing upwards of $1k.
And not too sure if it's better than live/driving & tuning

Obit seems pretty popular, not sure why.
Cos it doesn't seem to be well regarded amongst piggybacks.
At least vs. Emanage/Unichip.

I'm leaning towards Unichip.
That I used to use for my prev. ride...
Figure I can pickup a used Unichip Q for our ride.
Then get it tuned.

What do you guys think?... any input is welcome :)

Anyone have one in the storeroom to clear?

Re: Piggybacks for our E46's

Reflashing will definately get u most performance..
Because only by reflashing, will ur ECU be able to be tuned to MAXIMUM performance (as per Bernard/BVO ).
Piggybacks and good because the process in "reusable"...
They can be removed and reset to be used on ur next car....

Performance wise - Reflashing.
Cost efficiency - Piggybacks. (Orbit or UniChip).

Just my 2 cents.

Only infect poison.
The above is proof !!!!!

What will be the total dmg?
After adding up also the price of reflashing?

Re: Piggybacks for our E46's

Phil wanna do a "Group Tune".

Den maybe pretty Guni can give us a better price.........

Re: Piggybacks for our E46's

Your 2 cents worth alot lah... :)

Actually I think the perf difference btw reflash & piggyback is not huge.
Expect about 10-15hp gain either way.
I think its just schools of thought. and one is transferrable (sort of)

Brand new, reflashing maybe a bit more expensive than UnichipQ.
About $1k+ vs $700+ (inc. tuning)

Figured I could pickup a old Unichip (abt. $150-200), or used Q ($350-400)
Then get it tuned for a bit more.

I've very little illusion about our sporting aspirations haha...
We're not talking 50-100hp gains.
That'd you expect from an FI setup.
So cheaper is better.

Cheeeap cheeap..
Good good.

Re: Piggybacks for our E46's

I think the Active Autowerk Stage 3 SuperCharger gives us around 100bhp increase. Thats what they claim...
And it will cost u a BOMB.

I wouldnt mind getting a second-hand Q chip too....
Getting quite bored of the car already :(
I need POWER !!!!

Bro niteblue...

The older version of Unichip A, B, C & D are for individual make/model (crank pattern & programming is done only in DOS mode).
Eg. Version A is only meant for Honda trigger so for Mitsubishi Version A will not be suitable. For BMW will have to test which version will be suitable.

Where by for the Q (programming is done with Window XP), all crank patterns are already pre-set into the software. 1 click, you will have different patterns.

Got meh??? Did i told u??? :lol2: :lol2: Remove & re-tune only for the Q....
A,B,C & D have to remove and test again (See above for the explaination).
Not 100% gurantee can use..

Re: Piggybacks for our E46's

So u are recommending the Q la.
Its just plug-and-play right?

I read frm US website that installation will take no more than 20minutes.
Than tuning will take how long?

Re: Piggybacks for our E46's

So Unichip Q + Wiring Harness + Installation + Tuning = $1200 ?
