I don't think it has to be dismantled. It could be pour out as long as headlight assembly is removed.

think the ethics of the mechanics need to be revisited. very haphazard

Re: Normal from Performance Motors?

Honestly, seriously, although removing the fragments is beyond their duty of "changing bulb", they could have done so as part of goodwill or customer service.
For privately owned workshop, they will do so amid the competition to retain customers.
In a big organisation with almost monopoly over a certain product, it is not surprising to find certain (not all) staff who lacks initiative to do so. I dun know, maybe they are very busy, or there could be other valid reasons. Nevertheless, it makes me think twice about buying something from the organisation.

Just saw an A4 this morning, swee... :)

I had wanted to refrain from commenting without knowing the full story, but from TS original post, it seems the service staff's reason is crap. So I support TS to go bang the CSA....'s table :laughlik:

Absolutely right, bro. I have the same thoughts whenever I read other's threads. You only hear my side of the story which I am telling as fully as possible. I just want to hear the experiences of all the BMW owners here. If I am wrong, I am more than happy to accept the remarks.

Cheers!

No worries. They made me wait 6 hours for a simple oil servicing.
And the worst is that after 6 hours they tell me another hour is needed. I asked for the key and drove away in frustration. Unless they impress me in my future visits, I'm not gonna to buy a car that's under their warranty.
So this is my side of the story, ke ke.:)
Btw do let us know the result!

that is norm la.
If give back so soon, how to justify the high charges?
Must pretend do a lot of things. Haa

Re: Normal from Performance Motors?

I have my first servicing last week and I am very disappointed with their servicing. Since it is a simple servicing, they did the work ok. But it was the customer service that was suck. One department's problem pushed to another, and the service consultant even got the cheek to ask me to file a complain as evidence that I am not happy with the other department. Kena sai! Dunno how business is run there. Anyway, I file a "feedback" but I guess I might not hear anything from them. I missed my Lexus!

Re: Normal from Performance Motors?

Ouch... Lexus service definitely better. Sigh....

is it true lexus service engineerers even take the initiative to point out issues that u r not aware?

Re: Normal from Performance Motors?

Lexus is very steady. They pointed out potential problems in my front rotors and rear calipers during one of my servicing, and replaced all of them FOC under warranty. I didn't even complain when I checked in my car. Just received a call from them and told me that all would be settled. Hassle free and proactive in resolving issues..

Re: Normal from Performance Motors?

This is a good time to buy Toyota and Lexus. Serious. This is the time when their presumably already good service (as per posts above) will go up one notch due to their existing problems with the brakes and accelerator and whatever.
Problem is I prefer Audi and BMW. And can't afford the 1.4m Lexus. Damn.

Re: Normal from Performance Motors?

I guess it's about time that I update everyone on what has happened.

I received a call from the Customer Service this morning. They have investigated the incident and have asked BMW for advice. The headlight enclosure is sealed and cannot be opened. It is not normal for the bulb to burst like this. They say that it might be the batch of bulbs that has this problem. PML will be replacing the headlights when I send the car in on my next appointment.

They have apologized for the inconvenience and have educated the CSA on this matter. They say that it is not normal for BMWs to be driven around with glass fragments.

Fortunately for me, the car is still under warranty and I don't have to pay anything. I wonder what will happen to those other cars not under warranty.

tell ur CSA go and die...

Hearing what you said, I think I need to consult my bro in law on lexus service.....

My warranty is coming up around June.....Thinking of upgrading but have my reservation with BMW, the ultimate squeaking machine....or some called it Mickey Mouse Car:huhhuh:. BTW, thats my ride....but 99% of squeaking problems solved thru good Test-Driver.

Actually, if you are nice to the Test-Driver, they can tell you the problems with your car that you're not even aware of. CSA will file report based on feedback from Test-Driver. Try it! Be nice to Test-Driver and they'll help you along.:woottt:

If your problem doesn't require test driving, then too bad. At the mercy of the CSA.:oooops:

Hi All,

My dipped low beam burst and I had to replaced it. As a result of the bulb blowing, there were glass fragments within the light enclosure.

After I had it replaced at PML, the glass fragments were left within the enclosure as you can see via the picture. Naturally, I checked with the Service Advisor and he told me that he would normally advise the customers that this would be the case and it is normal for BMWs to have glass fragments there.

Can i check with all the brothers out there who had this experience to share whether this is NORMAL and acceptable?

Thanks in advance for your replies!!

Hey bro... not sure if you have rectified the problem.

Your problem can be solved via some very simple self-made equipment.

Take a big bottle cap, those from dynamo detergent type and poke a tiny hole in it.

Attach an air tube (for fish tank use) and push it through that little hole, make sure the hole is slightly smaller than the tube so that it is airtight.

Remove the low beam bulb. (Turn wheels to one end, uncap the plastic cap near the wheel well and the back of the headlamp assembly.

Cap the bottle cap over a Vacuum cleaner suction pipe and manouveur the other end of the small flexible tube through the bulb mounting hole inside the headlamp assembly and use it to suck up whatever remnants of the glass. It happened to me long time ago when I was still using halogen bulbs and the end result was pretty clean.

However, if the hot glass shards have melted and "eaten" into your plastic parts of the headlamp, then it will not help.

Let me know if you need more information, pm me.

Cheers.

Re: Normal from Performance Motors?

Hi..I always tell them the same thing...if cannot get it done change the whole thing and charge it to BMW-AG...ask them to @##$#@@ the one who design such products..

Re: Normal from Performance Motors?

Hey Bro, issue resolved with them changing the whole headlight assembly. I was still under warranty and hence no charge. Cannot imagine how much it will be if there's no warranty coverage.
