its funny how after a saga with outside workshops there will be some PML bashing. As usual naming is permitted becoz its PML.

I maintain a open and neutral view to all.

good point. i don understand why either.

in the other thread, the TS have no intention to disclose at all.
he just want forum pressure on the workshop to subs-crump to his request.

no sharing spirit.

double standards.

Re: Normal from Performance Motors?

still dont understand why its ok to bash PML but when it comes to other workshops, safeguard it. Double standards I say. I know its a different topic here. but im deeply disappointed that the site admin has allowed ppl to bash PML just becos its not a site sponsor? probably the question that begs is what happens if PML is a site sponsor? how different would the site admin react? im not saying site admin is doing a bad job.......but by continously stating that you have no vested interest in these site sponsors and then now allowing pml to be named so loosely in this incident....u don walk the talk at all. it just frustrates me that in public forums like these, feedback are so politicised. *head shaking* there must be a standard rule and one rule for all....not one rule for some and another rule for others..

not a supporter of pml...just a disgusted by-stander

Hi Niva,

I have never safeguarded any site sponsor. You can ask or do a search for yourself. We have had open complaints against site sponsors here and the threads are still untouched. I don't have a responsibility or obligation to PM/email/forward you information or links to those threads (we are busy enough as it is).

1. We have never deleted/edited/removed those threads.

2. The site sponsors in question, have always stepped in to clarify all doubts or resolve the situation/or worst case, filed a counter case against the thread starter.

3. If the user has posted about the said company in this company, I'm going to leave this thread be. If PML follows up on this thread, which they have already been duly notified, the member will receive a notification from them directly. If said company in this thread says that the thread starter has unjustly posted a malicious thread which is untrue, they already know the legal channels to take action against such a post. (And yes, we're all familiar with the process of filing a report if it has to come to it - screenshots, pdfs, letter of demands, even court order etc etc.).

Site sponsors have already been educated prior to them signing up about the double-edgeness of a community forum in our site sponsors guide, and our policies on 'protection' against them. One of the benefits we do provide for site sponsors is that we take an extra step in notifying them in case there are issues on the forum and it's very clear to them that we do not delete threads which are complaints about them. It is their responsibility to ensure they maintain their credibility online. (or in any other forum they are participating in).

The only exceptions when we delete a thread is when:

1. The thread starter requests to do so, and under which a review is carried out before the thread is removed.

2. When the thread does not serve the purpose of the forum and community.

3. If a thread has illegal content or content which flouts the rules of the forum.

Nonetheless from your feedback from this and the other earlier thread, the story is.. either way, we (the admins) will always called out, or get bashed whether it is a site sponsor or not. Haha. :) Will you guys stop suspecting us that we run this like a godfather trilogy? ;) We can't be bought by money.

Hi All,

My dipped low beam burst and I had to replaced it. As a result of the bulb blowing, there were glass fragments within the light enclosure.

After I had it replaced at PML, the glass fragments were left within the enclosure as you can see via the picture. Naturally, I checked with the Service Advisor and he told me that he would normally advise the customers that this would be the case and it is normal for BMWs to have glass fragments there.

Can i check with all the brothers out there who had this experience to share whether this is NORMAL and acceptable?

Thanks in advance for your replies!!

btw.... is yr ride still under warranty?
if it is you have a case to get them clean up if possible...

if it is not.. no point.. to get the fragment out PML might have to dismantle the whole headlight unit and depending on the age of your ride.. all the wire insulation started to turn flaky biscuits. they won't touch it at all as this can become major overhaul such as changing the new head light unit etc.. who pay for it then... if not under warranty?

hAhahah! 'godfather trilogy' ok thats a good one...cracked me up with that one

hi ryan....its not my intention to bash the site admins...but i like to clarify the rules and policies of the forum. you have done a great job i say..even tho i just joined late last year and did not really participate actively until this week when im really free...hols now..hehe

my point is that there is a clear similarity between the earlier thread and this one...I still do not understand why PML is named so loosely here and why evreyone is safeguarding that workshop in the other thread. so based on your stated criteria, am i right to say that if i have a negative brush with a workshop wic happens to the site sponsor, can i name them in the post? will i be restricted in any way? my comments wun be deleted right? just want some clarification on this.

many thanks

Re: Normal from Performance Motors?

In the previous thread, TS doesn't want to reveal the workshop name via open forum or pm..simple as that. Nothing to do with site admins.

There are other negative threads around where the workshops have been named and site admin has not deleted anything.

No you will not be restricted in any way. You are free to post whatever you want, assuming you have the necessary proof to do so. Your comments won't be deleted.

Of course, threads which have a one liner that states that "Company X cheated me!" and ends it as that, really looks dubious to us(or to any other member) to take seriously.

That said. The process-after is pretty much this. Upon such a thread, we have internal mechanisms which report the issues to us (hint - google alerts) really quickly, or when our one of our admins/moderators spots it.

We highlight it to our site sponsor via email, sms or phone. They will log online resolve it directly with the affected customer either through PM or call them up directly to resolve the issue. Most of the time when this happens, the issue is made good by site sponsor/affected company, thread starter will request to us that we remove his thread. And then we remove the thread.

It's pretty transparent in nature. We vet through ALL of our site sponsors before signing them up, and we don't really have that much complaints (in my experience - less than 10 to date).

The best way is of course, to speak to them to see whether they can resolve it directly and privately between themselves first, if not things always end up awkward later.

However, if say someone comes online to subtlety flame a site sponsor, or posts a false thread/accusation, the site sponsor after their investigation has indicated to me that there's no such person/customer etc, we will let our legal team do the work on counter -suing the thread starter for defamation/libel/slander. (happened about 4 times so far to date) and then we remove the thread. We have a legal team on call anytime, which happens to be one of our nation's most famous IT/IP legal co's in Singapore which specializes in such online issues.

i think PML staff have this tendency to quote "it's like that one." It's ridiculous to just quote that line and expect customers to accept it. or they will show you other cars with the same fault and use that as justification that it is the norm. Actually, just cos many cars have the same fault doesn't make it acceptable. It just shows poor QC. but many of us don't have the time to stand there and argue with your SA, the body shop guy, the parts guy etc. So LL, leave the car and go back to work.

but anyway, in this case did the SA advise you why they don't clear out the fragments? I'd expect it hard to open up the casing. If you do, what if it starts to fog up after rain? is the opening where they access the light for bulb replacement big enough for them to reach in and clear out the small fragments?

Re: Normal from Performance Motors?

To clear the fragments, the whole headlight assembly has to be dismantled. Even after fitting it back, there's no guarantee that the headlight will be watertight and no fog up will take place.

Re: Normal from Performance Motors?

Yes, it is under warranty. The headlight assembly is sealed tight and as per one of the other bros who mentioned that if they take it out, they might not be able to seal it back again.

They should in this case change the whole headlight assemeby?

I don't think it has to be dismantled. It could be pour out as long as headlight assembly is removed.
