Newbie and Modification

Hi Guys,

Pleasure to be able to connect with all of you here. My name is Ben and I am new here. Please be patients with me.

I used to drive a matt white Mazda RX8. I am planning to get a 2012 registered X1 sDrive2.0i because of my new family member. My precious daughter. Plan to get this ride by mid jan

May I know if anyone could advise me on the pros and cons of this ride?

I have actually a list of mods in mind probably someone with experience could advise me if there is such mods of which is a best brand to get it.

I am used to modding my ride so will get kind of itchy. But need some advise if I should do it.

- 19" wheel with bigger offset
- LTA approve titanium exhaust if there is any
- ECU remapping (Any recommendation)
- Blowoff valve

I don't intend to get the tower strut bar and my previous ride after installing it became too stiff and uncomfortable though handling does improve.

Appreciate if anyone could add in your recommended mods to make this ride looks cool. Appreciate if anyone don't mind could post some nice photo. Thank you so so much for the trouble.

Re: Newbie and Modification

Thanks buddy, ya...just thinking of some basic mod and I don't really have the intention to mod like what I have done on my previous ride.

Re: Newbie and Modification

Welcome Ben,

X1 just more the rims, tyres n maybe suspension.
Comestic mods

Otherwise save money ... no point to remap...

Re: Newbie and Modification

Thanks Supan,

But I do come across some guys mentioning about remapping it and it does quite well. I also understand that there isn't
a exhaust system that we can explore, may I know is that true? If you don't mind sharing.

Re: Newbie and Modification

Skip the power mods - the yield of these mods on your engine will be minimal.

Rims+tyres, but since it is an X, not sure if you really wanna touch on suspension mods.

BTW, SUV shaped vehicles might have to go on much bigger wheels to be aesthetically appealing because of the wheel arches and the gap between wheels and car. For instance, widst a sedan can sit on a 19" plus a drop to look good, a SUV might have to use 20" without the drop to achieve the desired visual effect.

Re: Newbie and Modification

Thanks Kenn,

I'm really considering on the minor power mod like exhaust etc...

As for suspension I don't think I will change it as for my last ride I'm on 19" rim and my suspension was on Bilstein and it is a little to firm where my wife keep complaining I think partly is because for lower profile tire has a much stiffer side wall which made the already firm suspension even much firmer. Probably what you say is true about considering going for 20" instead. To have the x looks a lot more sportier

Re: Newbie and Modification

IMHO - There's a bunch of changes you can make to the gearbox software which changes the way the ride delivers power.
The power plant - it has an N20 engine ..... It has a turbo thus it can deliver more torque via a piggyback. That can be appreciated in a heavier SUV chassis.......or someone who has a RX8 .......

Thanks buddy for your advise. May I know what can I explore and where can I do all this? If you don't mind to list the list of things I can explore? Appreciate that
