Re: New BMW ///M3 4-door sedan & cabriolet

I beg to differ from your point of view. Chris Bangle was ridiculed, even the big shots at Mercedes laughed at their 7-series.

BUT, the packaging advantages of Bangle's design are palpable, and everybody followed suit.

Now, you cannot envision a world without Chris Bangle. The Lexus GS, IS and then LS all made possible because of the 7-series, then 5 and then 3. The Mercedes S-Class and the new C-class all have the bangle element. The new EvoX has it too.

VAG and the Ford group did not follow suit yet, but the rest are already converted.

The new Z4 coupe looks beautiful and has beaten all in its class so far in many comparos. Their new 3- need getting used to, but it renders the E46 as outdated. The old 5- and 7- series are really rendered obsolete in looks by the new 5- and 7- and I don't have to say that the Z4 is far more attractive than the Z3.

Re: New BMW ///M3 4-door sedan & cabriolet

last time, in the olden days, police wears shorts.

Bangle rules....only thing am not use to about the new M3 is the bonnet bulge. With time, it will set in. If bangle dont rule, why did BMW sell more than 100k 3 series

Re: New BMW ///M3 4-door sedan & cabriolet

well, I guess to each his own then. I personally do not mind the 5 or the 7, since I used to own 2 745s myself. However, I just find that for the 3 series, which is supposed to a smallish car, it is kind of clumsy looking and not graceful as it should be, as opposed to the e46. I do agree with you that the Z4 looks better than the Z3 but at the same time you can't deny the fact that some older designs do look better than current ones...

BMW M3 Four Door and Convertible

After 13 years BMW is about to come back on the market with an M3 four door. Back in 1995 the Bavarian car manufacturer had already a four door in the M3 lineup, but then for just one model year.

This fall, BMW will start off with the launch of the new M3 model range by introducing coupe version. In spring 2008 the convertible M3 will follow, and finally in autumn another brand new four-door version will be unveiled. This one, however, has at the most the four doors in common with this predecessor, because while the 1995 M3 was powered by a 3.0 liter inline-6 engine delivering 296 HP, the M3 cars of today gets power from a strong 4.0 litre V-8, which should be able to accelerate in 4.6 sec. to 100 km/h.

Actually I don't think this info on the E36 M3 is totally correct, although it may be accurate for a specific country (where this article is probably taken from).

The E36 M3 sedan was definitely offered for more than one year. I recall seeing them on the streets of Europe in 1995. It was on the price lists of many car mags for several years. I think the last one to be registered in Singapore was registered in 1998 (estoril blue if I remember correctly).

The 3.0 engine delivered 286 bhp in Euro spec, and 240 bhp in US spec. From 1996 onwards, the 3.2 engine delivered 321 bhp in Euro spec. This is the version with OBDII that was notoriously more difficult to mod than the earlier cars.

Please correct me if I'm mistaken.

Yes, the 635CSI is the most beautiful BMW ever made. To date, nothing matches it. I went to PML in Sime and saw one second hand one, I asked to buy it but was refused on grounds that it was unavailable for sale.

With regard to the E90 3-series, for the record, I find it a GOOD SIGHT more agile looking than the E46 after a year of looking at it. To me, it cross the line from being a stupid looking car to a nice looking car once I saw a WHITE one, which was about 6 months after its launch.

Re: New BMW ///M3 4-door sedan & cabriolet

mm the old E24 6ers? my dad used to hav one... never had the chance to drive it... sigh...
yea, it's a very nice , elegant and sporty sharknose car..... not very pedestrian friendly...hehehe...

Hi MRacer77, slightly OT but have you signed up on the E21/E30 Classics registry thread (under BMW Singapore Motoring Life)?

When did you get your E30? Is it the one-owner silver one that was for sale recently? I was thinking pretty hard about buying it.

Yeah I thought I signed up awhile ago already.

I got my e30 about 2 and half years ago. My E30 is Alpine white not silver. If you want to buy an e30, you can make me an offer.

There is a very nice E24 6 series (not sure but think it may be a 628csi) around town that recently underwent a 1 or 2-year restoration at PML. I heard it was for sale. Some of the forumers here know the owner. I think Ben at Autoincsports may also be in contact with him.

It's grey with RD rims, and has a manual transmission, I think. :)

Didn't see your handle on that thread.

Thanks, but I decided not to buy another car in the end (at least for now!).

Re: New BMW ///M3 4-door sedan & cabriolet

Getting back on topic (if only for a bit), does anyone know when the E90 M3 sedan will be here? And at what price? Thanks.

When they face-lift the E90 sedan, ie. somewhere during 2008.

Re: New BMW ///M3 4-door sedan & cabriolet

The sedan will prob come out 6 months to a year after the M3 coupe... price should be similar to m3 coupe...

Re: New BMW ///M3 4-door sedan & cabriolet

The Sedan was avaiable in the US for 1997 and 1998. Both were 3.2s OBDII
