MP3 in E90?

there's an aux in for external player in the center armrest.

my cd changer at the back can play mp3 discs. but the head unit cd player is unable to.

tks!! always tot E90 has MP3 capabilities....any1 changed their head unit on E90 b4? l did mine on my E46 last time..not sure if E90 can be done..

maybe earlier batches of E90. but confirmed both change n headunit is MP3 compatible on mine.

Haha, go PML repair your head unit la.... My head unit confirm can play MP3s too :nehnehhh:

No problems with the CD Changer as well, and PSP on the aux.

sorry to dig up this old thread, my car is a used end 05 E90 320 and it seems i can't play MP3 whether on the head unit or the cd changer, any outside audio shop can rectify this problem? or i die die need to go back pml, thanks for the advice

To be frank, I have tons of CDs and hundreds of songs on my iPhone I never really thought about playing MP3 music on CDs. So I decided to find out if mine can play MP3s on HU and CD changer.

Since I could not find any MP3 CD to test but only WMA, I decided to give it a shot. To my surprise, my HU and CD changer can play WMA and I believe definitely MP3.

My ride is 06 Sep and here are some shots to show.

Sephiroth, I found that when I put 2 MP3/ WMA CDs into the changer, only 1 shows up in the HU. Not sure if the changer can only play one at a time or something is wrong with mine, which I doubt because PML changed a new 2009 changer for me recently.

Can you also check yours?

actually I'm only collecting my ride on Monday. Will test and post here. It's a Jan 08 320 so I guess I should be able to play mp3s.

As for your case, I would think that the changer can only read one CD at a time so if you have 2 CDs, you'll need to switch to the other disc before it can be read. Is this what you're facing? sorry if i misinterpret your question.

Collected my ride on Friday and tested the HU, as you said, can play MP3, however, CD changer seems to be faulty (HU cannot detect but changer can still work). HU display only shows CD, AUX & Tuner, no CDC. Guess need to claim warrenty liao.

4.7gb worth of songs, drive to thailand and back also cannot finish listening
