Anyone with experience of OWS or other Iridium plugs care to comment?

My mechanic of 6 years used to carry OWS Iridium plugs and stopped because of too many customer complains. Apparently caused a lot of problems with most people. I personally had no experience as I'm always using NGK. I just casually asked him one day since I saw it being sold. This mechanic is a close friend so I would trust what he said. One simple way is to try switching to another brand and see the outcome. If the problem goes away, the answer is clear....

I am running an M54 YOM 2002 320iA with OWS Iridium plugs installed about 20,000km ago. Other engine mods include Ecotek, grounding and ITG air filter. The car suffered misfiring of cylinders leading to power loss and a "pop..pop" sound with irregular RPMs since yesterday.

When I brought it back to PML, they diagnosed misfiring of cylinders 1& 4. Of course they blamed the OWS plugs and the ignition coil was also faulty. Fortunately, the coil will be replaced under warranty but I seriously doubt that the plugs could cause such a fault. Should I have chaged the Iridiums earlier? Anyone with experience of OWS or other Iridium plugs care to comment?

There're some batches of the 1st generation OWS iridium that are giving such problem.......

So go back to where you got the 1st generation OWS & they'll gladly exchange them for the latest 2nd generation iridiums.

Hope this helps......

I used to have this problem when I was driving the Legacy. I used the Platinum plugs and when I switch back to copper plugs I had problems idling as well as misfiring.

Took to my mechanic and he check...one of the ignition cables were faulty and he replace it and all was well.

PML changed my ignition coil FOC, but charged me for 6 pcs NGK high power plugs at $20 ea with labour charges of $75... ouch!!! These stock plugs are supposed to have a warranty of 2 years but the engine seems more sluggish, less punch. No complaint about standard of service at Kampong Arang though.... far cry from Alexandra!
