M3 Suspension

Hey bros,
Anybody here have any experience with PSS9 vs KW2 for the M3? Comfort, handling etc? When should the stock suspension be changed under standard use and how long can these after-market kits last?
Thanks for any info!

Re: M3 Suspension

Hi Charles,

I hv had experience with PSS9 on M3 and KW Var2 with Z.....Perhaps the latter one aint that much relevant coz it's on different ride.

Anyway,
PSS9 is a great coilover for street driving. The ride is comfortable. The height drop is nice and is very friendly to all kinds of rims including your stock rims.
The shock's damping/compression setting is probably the easiest to adjust. You can DIY w/o using any tools. For the height adjustment, u r better off getting it done by a professional.....With regard to durability, this coilover sure lasts very long. It's got some lifetime warranty.
I removed my PSS9 in the end coz it's becoming too comfortable for me. I went for Ground Control set up, it's far more aggressive and superior in handling department.

As for stock set up....
It's hard to gauge its life to be honest. Most often that not, people just change the suspension coz of mod virus reason hahaha...
Anyway, for standard use...it should last pretty long time...I'd think easily above 50,000km

U can't go wrong with KW2 either....another great coilover.
Damping adjustment is not as easy as the PSS9 for sure but it's not terribly difficult either. This coilver isn't friendly to some rims. Depending on the offsets, you maybe required to use some spacers to clear. This coilover gives you the best drop. You can slam it all the way to look like a pimp.....

Re: M3 Suspension

jack is the pss9 that comfy? hows soft is the softest setting and how hard is the hardest?

anyway... the pss9 is equal to KW variant 2 or 3?

Re: M3 Suspension

1-9 is the range.....9 being the softest like muah-chee. 1 is like durian shell.
Yes it's comfortable. I have never heard of people commenting PSS9 is too hard anyway.

PSS9 is actually equivalent to KW Var3 but the drawback is that PSS9 shock setting is a pre-adjusted combination of compression and rebound whereas in Var3, u can independently adjust the compression and the rebound hence more expensive and can be suited to one's particular driving style better.

Re: M3 Suspension

Thanks Jack, a reservoir of knowledge as usual! Any idea comfort wise between the 2? Also will KW2 clear the evo 19" rims? Not really interested in slamming the car, minimal drop with no loss of comfort but better handling is what I'm looking for.

Re: M3 Suspension

Both are comfortable IMO but I think u should go with PSS9..I am sure u will like it better as a package. With regard to KW Var2, I have a feeling that it won't clear your Evo rims coz the offset is quite positive ( ie +47 in this case )
U need about +40 to clear I believe.

PSS9 gives you a good drop. Remember, your car is a cab so it gets lowered alot more easier as it's heavier than coupe'
