I thought my M insurance policy allows for "authorised" and not "named" drivers. So as long as the driver was driving with my authorisation, it is good enough?

some owner wants cheaper quote so put only named driver. usually owner and spouse free if married.
if want add more driver need pay, if fully comprehsive is expensive. read the policy issued. Authorised is as good as only named.

Most of the motor insurance for M3 and supercar can be customised. e.g. driver above 35 only.

Wah lau confusing leh. Why would "authorised" be as good as "only named"? Authorised means anyone who is duly authorised by the owner and is far wider range than a named driver.

not confusing la, as long u buying M3 or any performance car, make sure you know what u buying.
as for normal car besides WRX/EVO most likely anyone u authorized can drive unless u customized for certain age driver.

if still confusing, just ask the agent who can drive. anyway you must know that before u signed the dotted line.
there is also a inexperience driver clause. alot of performance car only have named driver but owner let their kids drive or valet the car.

Iscoupe, you wanna teach T6 how to suck eggs?

The insurance industry doesn't buck up in its creative definitions of simple words, very soon we need to specify gender, height, weight, hobbies and length of hair of every singe insured as well as his/her PSLE results?

and then you will say "insured" is not the same as "assured"

Semantics and jargons used against the less-savvy consumers !!!

I heard a case where a forumwer bought a policy from another forumer with promises on "guaranteed payout" and verbal promises of "sure earn or I'll hand you a cheque."

They sell what they wanna sell, and say anything they wanna say. Of course, not all are black sheeps. But whatever it is, if you do NOT understand what you are signing, please do NOT sign !!!

Yah and one insurance company defines Total Permanent Disability of a hand as "total loss of functions of the hand", while another company says "loss of 2 out of 5 fingers" is enough...

My injured hand so magical, got so many definitions of disability

I had a policy and found out that one of the possible pay out is when "Loss of one eye and one hand", so I ask the insurer that if I only lose my hand should I poke my eye myself to award the claim? He told me "that's one way to look at it"... I cancelled the policy straight away. Some policies are simply ridicules if you carefully break them down.

Re: M3 crashes "left and right" in Dunearn Road tunnel

Huh? You guys haven't CSI'ed the owner?

Re: M3 crashes "left and right" in Dunearn Road tunnel

aiya if don't know how then don't sign on the document. if not sure, don't buy. btw motor insurance is compulsory so LL too.

anyway anything about insurance , people will kpkb about fine prints, why don't go find out before sign, also ask what a widow, a parent who lost their kids, medical bill fully paid by insurance company, all the people who benefited from claim and live on with diginity say about insurance....

they will say "lucky i buy and trust the agent"

When things go right, you seldom see a person given the credit.
When things go wrong, everyone point their fingers at a scapegoat.
That's life and it will always be so, even long after we are gone.

FAIR outcome coming 5/Jan. Consumer will be happy? Agent all can sell house and sell car cos earning up lorry?

to me no one wake up morning looking for a insurance person. my job is to ask them buy for their responsibilty to their love ones. latest incident from me, 2 months ago, me talking to a uncle with 5 sons, he say consider, 2 week ago passed away. i am sad.. cos i never insist he sign on my term plan.

i am not teaching him

i am telling him the person who sell him car insurance should make clear what is claimable. ya married is cheaper than single. gender also have rating. Use to rate on where u stay in the past. anything the insurer wants do, public can try complain since there is MAS now as watch dog.

if every contract found in market is so simple, we no need lawyers liao.
