Loud humming sound after change of exhaust..

After changing my header and muffler ..there is this loud humming sound from the muffler that get in the cab. Any bro can help solve this problem ??(beside asking me to put back the stock muffler...) cat after the header has been remove .mid pipe n center cat original.
am driving coupe.e46.

i think that's pretty normal dude.. considering u changed ur headers, took cat away.... and aftermarket exhaust... should sound like that i think... 6 pot mah...

sound seem to trap inside cab...i mean yes i understand it should be loud but really cannt tahan when the humming inside cab get louder ....

i think that's pretty normal dude.. considering u changed ur headers, took cat away.... and aftermarket exhaust... should sound like that i think... 6 pot mah...

maybe need to soundproof the rear...it dam loud ..sound seem trap ...

its call resonance. try installing a sports cat. will get rid of some vibration.

i go through the same thing like you everyday...but mine is always the loudest btw 1800-2600rpm.. auto SMG mode for slow city bridge climbing with 5/6 gear is killing.. :furious:
is your still noisy while doin expressway cruising? mine is ok though

Hi Bro,

I thinkijng of replacing the current piping from the exhaust to stainless steel one. Should I remove the cat? Is it OK when inspection. (my ride 2003 FL 318i).

i go through the same thing like you everyday...but mine is always the loudest btw 1800-2600rpm.. auto SMG mode for slow city bridge climbing with 5/6 gear is killing.. :furious:
is your still noisy while doin expressway cruising? mine is ok though

Just wondering which one cause louder humming sound? Is it the header or muffler?

LOUDER THE BETTER(on the outside)
on the inside,BLAST THE SPEAKERS LOR! play hip hop songs..hahaha
then on the outside ppl can hear ur engine..damn cool man!

header will be the main cause of the problem due to removal of the 1st resonator..

Hi, I had this problem with my E46 as well. It's called the 'exhaust drone'. Very loud at 2-3k rpm. Can't really do anything about it. If want you compare to your stock cabin quietness, don't bother.
I tried a Remus and returned it to Ricky for a slight loss after 2 days. Tried the Hamann next and sold it too. Supersprint was the most quiet of the lot but still could hear the drone. Tried soundproffing but no much better as well. Guess you have to live with it if you want the performance gains.

i hav since get used to it..but recently remove the exhuast due to inspection.may re-install sooon....
