lefthand driving E46

hi all Beamers,

last year i brought back my e46 318i from Germany.
this is a lefthanded driving machine.
i wanna convert this machine to right hand.

My Q is, is there anyone, convert his e46 and the needed part such dashboard and etc still available or where can i get cheap 2hd part for this purpose.

You're better off buying a RHD!

Its gonna be rather hard to find someone to convert the car for you to RHD. Second, its gonna be very expensive as well...

How did you manage to import it into Singapore? I though they are very strict about this kinda stuff.

Good luck trying! Hopefully the Government will let you drive in LHD... I think that driving position is better.

you may wanna check with LTA.
i think you need special approval from them. :thinking:

i heard there were very very few cars (maybe just a handful) that were approved to be left hand-driven in SG.
but to obtain that, i guess you need to pull one bleeding big string with the authorities or tonnes of $$, if it ever works.

further, would there be any insurance company that will provide coverage for such cars?

if you ask me, i rather get a new one here.

while on a recent trip to a professional mod shop for BMWs in KL, amongst the many power conversions being done to BMWs, I saw an e38 being converted from LHD to RHD. The entire interior and engine bay have to be completely stripped out. The metal braces for the steering column has to be removed and switched over, all wiring harnesses and plastic bits have to be reordered. The car was stripped down to the bare metal frame, it's as if you're back to step 1 in the assembly line. The amount of work is tremendous. It can definitely be done, but the process involved... mindboggling.

actually i'm from malaysia, i just heard that someone from my town bought one e46 325i halfcut from spore. i think if some1 convert his e46, right to right handed, just convert the engine, i want to buy the rest of the part like dashboard and etc to do the conversion.

any body done e46 conversion?
