KW V2 Review

Evening guys,

Nice meeting some of you yesterday, though didn't manage to catch all your names and forum nicks.

Got my KW V2 coilovers installed yesterday @ J4C. They were installed together with H&R Sway bars. Looks like hell of a tough job.

The difference was apparent. Close to zero body roll on hard cornerings. Like ABD said, I'm really getting into the habit of cornering everywhere!

Dropwise, I got them to set maximum height, so compared to the stock suspension, its about 2 fingers gap front and rear.

In terms of ride hardness, personally i find it a bit too harsh. Let's see how it develops over the running in period. May be going back to set it to softer setting.

Btw, i think wilson still has a couple of stock left for this. Do pm him for the special 2007 price.

Jason

Re: KW V2 Review

I'll be getting mine installed in the next couple of weeks. Do you mind sharing what is your damper settings for both front and rear? I.e. how many clicks away from stiffest setting?

Thanks!

Re: KW V2 Review

I have set to hear from someone who have KW V2 or PSS9, who says that their car had both improved in terms of reduced body roll AND at same time still as comfortable.

Apparently T6 has got quite comfy settings on his 335i Sedan..

Re: KW V2 Review

Playing with tyre pressure helps. The BMW very sensitive to tyre pressure especially at the rear. A difference of even 1 psi can make alot of diff.

so whast yr coilover settings n tyre pressure?
Tire pressure @ 32psi. 225/40/R18

If i remember correctly, damping setting is 2.5 clicks away from hardest.

Hopefully the *hardness* is due to the fact that its still new.

I will continue to update this thread as it goes along. But seriously, the cornering sensation is unbelievable man.

Re: KW V2 Review

i set mine at to the middle of 18 clicks in total. did you mean 2.5 turn from hard, cjc81?

KW2 go by clicks? I thot go by turns.

In the 335, the recommended default setting is 1.25 front and 1.0 turn rear. I set mine to 1.25 turn front and 1.25 turn rear as I wish to reduce oversteer and the car is now alot alot more comfortable than the default setting.

Tyre pressure wise, I am running abt 36.4 psi front and 38psi rear.

An ideal combo for me after rplaying with a few KW setting and tyre pressure.

Hi T6,
I've ordered a set of kw's V2 and waiting delivery now. Wat would u recommend my setting to be. My ride is an e90 330i. Cheers

I am no guru bro but mine is also an e90 version. I am comfort biased and also afraid of being caught in an oversteering situation. So my setting works for me.

Those who go track may advocate another setting. I don't track my car. Hence I prefer my rear setting to be softer.

I cannot stress enough that the rear tyre pressure can make a big diff to ride comfort. So while waiting for your KWV2, why not experiment with rear tyre pressure first.

Couple of us running 19 staggered PS2 like 35psi front and 37psi rear or 36psi front and 38psi rear. Anything beyond that is kinda harsh. But if u run other tyres, that my tyre pressure may not work for u. If u run tyres with softer side walls like Toyo, u mahve to go higher tyre pressure.

As for the KW2 setting, u can try 1.25 turn front and 1.0 turn rear which is the recommended setting. If you find ride harsh, then try 1 1/8 for the rear. If still not shiok, try 1.25 turn. That is the max u shd go.

The KW2 will settle down almost immediately after installation. So maybe ask the installer not to put the carpet in the boot back first while you go for short drive. This will allow u to make rear adjustment more easily.

Re: KW V2 Review

Thanks T6, your post is very helpful. I just changed from T1-R to PS2's and the PS2's are much much more comfortable and quiet than the T1-Rs. PS2's are perhaps the most comfty max performance tyre out there in my opinion heh.

Ken and myself are in the same batch order for KW V2's... l'll post our findings once they are installed heh. I was reading on E90 post some guys who seek the comfort setting go as much as F12 and R10 clicks from stiffest setting. Hmm..

Re: KW V2 Review

I have ready stock of KW V2!

I am still trying to figure out this "click" thingey that u guys are referring to. The manual makes reference to "turn" using an allen key. How do u guys do clicking?

Try turning (the damping setting) your V2 & you'll know how it feels.

U can feel the clicks.....can count them somemore!!!
