"Knonking" noise on E60

Hi,

Just collected my E60 523.

Noticed that there is a lound "knonk" when the vehicle comes to a stop, probably 2 times every 10 - 15 times that I stop.

Anyone else experienced this problem?

does it come from the rear? transmission down shift slam?

It sounds as though the gear is going from 3rd to 1st in a very abrupt manner, creating a 'knonk' sound. It only happens when the car comes to a complete stop.

Its the brake pads. They are not sitting in properly.

sounds like transmission slam..
