Juicebox STAGE 2 for N20 Engines

Evening bros,

I've been following the progress of the BMS Juicebox tune for the N20 engine pretty closely...

They are in the midst of releasing the stage 2 tune, however, at the moment it only seem to work better (or easier) for the 8spd AT, and those that are on pneumatic boost solenoid.

There are supposed to be 2 types of boost solenoid, the former and the electric ones.

Any bros know if our 328i are on pneumatic or electric??

Also, anyone else keen to email terry / mike (from n54tuning and n54tech) to purchase a beta kit?

If you email and he ask where you from and you say SG. He will ask you to talk to Boss.

They are not selling overseas yet...... Using a proxy in the states....

Re: Juicebox STAGE 2 for N20 Engines

those on N26 are on electric boost solenoid. N20 are all on the older version.
U can check their thread on how to identify. From what i know mostly those 2012 PML purchases are on the older version.

I was following their instruction to check. But they only had 1 poorly taken photo :(

Some ppl with n20 in US are in electric solenoid also.

Re: Juicebox STAGE 2 for N20 Engines

I read that those N20 electric solenoid are only seen in US market, due to their stricter requirement for carbon emission on newer cars.

Btw, the Alcon 6-pot for F30 is out liao. I got lobang, let me know if u interested.

I just look thru my engine bay for the boost solenoid as depicted in their forum post, but none to be found =(

Already on M-perf brakes =X Unless someone wanna buy from me lol

Re: Juicebox STAGE 2 for N20 Engines

Just to share some info..

The s2 clocked 358hp and 628nm on the 328i...... Omgosh, 628nm of tq...

It also clocked 266whp and 278lf-ft on the 320i... Not too bad for the 320, suppose they will hit abt the same top speed, but lose out quite a bit on the acceleration..

refer graph, 328 stage 2 is only hitting 268wHp; while stage 2 for 320 is pretty close, lose out on torque only.

now this is really biting me, the endless pursuit of power, ok ok...juz enjoy my drive :|

i googled the difference between 320 vs 328, other than the tranny differences, the other crucial part is the piston. 328 might be using a higher grade/ or forged piston which allow greater abuse for power, not so sure how far the baseline 320's piston can go... :|

Cut n paste from forum:

BMW has just announced a new entry level F30 3 series, the 320i. The 320i shares the same N20; TwinPower single turbo, twin scroll, 2.0 liter inline 4 cylinder engine as the 328i. The 320i is factory rated at 180 hp at 5,000 RPMs and 200 lb-ft of torque from 1,250 RPMs. Stacked next to the 328i with 240hp at 5000 RPMs and 255 lb-ft of torque from 1250 RPMs and the obvious question is what is the difference in the two engines.

The first obvious answer is there is something in BMW's DME control software that limits the power, most likely by limiting boost pressure, on the 320i. That appears to be true as both the 320 and the 328 use the same DME hardware (PN - 12148604210) and the same engine control system MEVD 17.2.9. With a software tweak the likely difference between the 320i and the 328i we go in search of other changes that might limit the 320is ability to make the same power the 328i N20 puts down.

The next easy target is the intake, exhaust manifold and turbo. Surprisingly they turned out to be the same part number. In fact the 320i and the 328i share the exact same part numbers for a majority of the engine components.

Shared engine components between F30 320i and 328i
Cylinder head - PN 11127624778
Connecting rods - PN 11247624616
Crankshaft - PN 11212212762
Intake manifold - PN 11617588126
Air box - PN 13717597589
Air filter - PN 13718507320
Intercooler - PN 17517618809
Radiator - PN 17117600520
Throttle body - PN 13547588625
HPFP - PN 13517584461
MAF - PN 13627602038
DME/ECU - PN 12148604210
Exhaust manifold/turbo - PN 11657642469

yes, i saw this article & if you read further down the thread, the piston difference is mentioned. in fact, it's also mentioned in another us/uk forum on this same topic... result of me being lazy to research into such details before buying..haiii :( nevertheless, i do still enjoy 320 till date (consoling myself ;))

Haha..bro, you worry yr 320 piston unable to take the 266wHp? No worries lah! Go ahead to upgrade!

Re: Juicebox STAGE 2 for N20 Engines

All this data are collected from testing state...
The 328i that was tested was running on map 7 with 99 ron

I'm not to sure about the 320i...

But man, the 600+ nm will eat most modded evo and wrx...
