IS 250 accept booking now, 130K

Called Borneo Motor on Sunday, quoted around 130K (how much would be COE at that time ???) with std and high spec ( 10 plus speakers system ? ) option. Booking fee around 10K refundable with delivery in March/April. Showroom car (no test drive ) arrives end Dec. Vs 325i, a good buy ?

I saw an IS250 (at least that is how the car was badged) on Monday night. Maybe parallel import. Looks nice but still prefer e90 looks.

Price wise definitely. It lags far in the handling department according to many reviews.

Read the latest review in Car mag... Seems like a real contender!! Nicer looks than the E90 and handling is almost there or if not on par with the E90! Hmm.... tough choice for buyers!

i think it's Mark eX (can't be Mark 10 rite?)
i thot the name was kinda cool actually..heh... I even thought the older versions had cool names "MARK II"
the exhaust pipes on the Mark X rocks

Mark X is supposed to be based on the GS300 Platform (minus the engine cc difference) so it will be difficult to compare to the IS platform...It may be fair to compare the MArk X to the 523 as both are rear wheel drive and 2.5l engine....on the differences

I believe its Mark "10" and not "X". Jap cars always like to go by numbers.. like Evo I to Evo IX, Honda Integra DC2, DC5, etc etc..My guess...

my friend just called up.

1) price $130k? SE said price not available yet.
2) booking fee $10k refundable blah blah? yes.
3) showroom car arrives end dec? SE said after CNY.
4) delivery mar/apr? yes.

the past versions were all called MARK IIs i think

IS250/350 based on modified new-GS platform, shares many similiar suspension components, but they have done away with all-round wishbones.

Depending on the reviews, some rave about the IS, while others think it's even worst than the original.

Until we get to drive it, guess we'll just have to read what others say

I think the issue with IS250 is its weight. From a US website, it wieghs in at 3650lbs. The 325i is 3284lbs, a difference of 366 lbs or abour 150kg!

I realised this has been the trend of all New Japanese Car Models that the Side Mirror is attached to the car body instead of the car window

Example: Honday City, Honda Civic, Nissan Latio etc......

I think it look urgly.

IS250 is RWD ! or even AWD in the US, perhaps only IS350.

No way tat the IS250 wld weight so heavy la, even the GS300 don't hv tat kinda weight.
(3650lbs which workout to 1659kg)U must be kidding. GS300 weights only @1620kg for ur info.

IS is based on the GS300 platform but a shorten platform. Wheelbase and overall length is shorter than MarkX and GS300 but longer than IS200. IS250 is much heavier than the IS200 and ranged from 1560kg to 1625kg depending on the accessories. Yes, it can be as heavy as GS300. It is also heavier than a 320i which is around 1425kg.

But the IS does have a bigger, more powerful engine than a 320i. Therefore, still performance better while not lose out too much on the fuel consumption.
