I can testify to bro st8800's statement about poison... For more than a decade now, ALL my cars came in only one variant: STOCK. Then came all these brothers on the forum. Although I've not yet succumb to the full effects of the poison, I've already exhibited moderate symptoms in my most recent order of F13. What started out stock soon got "official" modifications added in - most notably the M-sport kit and upgraded 20" M type rims. Coupled with other options (auto park, comfort seats - the 640i came standard in Sports Seats - side view cameras, surround view cameras, and a few other bits and pieces), the mods cost me nearly $30,000 in addition to the already not inconsiderable amount that PML was hocking the 6er for.
And I haven't even gotten my Quad tips yet!
In fact, at one point in time, it got so bad that I wanted to 'mod' my already 'modded' order from a 640i to the 650i! But, too bad, the mod-bug came back to do me in - they couldn't change my order because my 640i wasn't standard specification (most notably, I deleted the sunroof option and added alcantara anthracite to the roof lining), so PML said that if they changed the car after BMW had already locked in the order would mean PML would then be stuck with a car that they might not be able to sell at a standard price.
But, I swear to you, modding a car certainly makes for a totally different buying experience! I mean, suddenly, I'm not buying off the rack anymore. This is a car made to order, customized to my individual specifications! And I'm just talking about having my car done up in the "official" modification options!
No wonder some of the brothers here spend double, triple the amount I have, just to personalize their rides!
Now, when will Eisenmann make me my quad pipes!?!?
