Just be gentle. Is the centre console you are referring to the portion with the arm rest? Once I'm back this evening, I will try and find the instructions for you. I did it before, it's not difficult.

PM me.

Thanks for the promt reply.

I have seen the links before. But the illustration is for a manual car. Are u saying that I should remove the boot cover surrounding the steptronic gear shift first and work around removing the black plastic gear shift frame by unclipping from below? I just need to remove the plastic frame to reveal 2 screws that I need to remove without having to use force to pry out that black plastic gear shift frame.

I am have bad experience with PMl where they scratch my interior everytime I go for servicing. It doesn;t help when the soft touch plastic surface gets scratch off so easily... sigh

Thanks for the help.

Yes.

Just be a bit gutsy!

erm, why not get pml to replace if it was damaged by them during servicing? they denied damaging it?

first you pinch the bottom of the leather boot of your steptronic and lift the leather upwards.

then since you can now access the inside of the black plastic plate (that says PRND) you can push it from the bottom upwards. this will reveal the 3 (or 4) black screws holding your trim console.

remove the trim (most people have it in Titanium colour that one) and it will reveal further screws for the black colour centre console (including armrest)

follow the instructions for manual from here.

Alternatively, if you dont want to remove the black leather for your gearstick, you can try to pry the PRND black plastic straight up from the Titan trim using a flathead screwdriver. But you may scratch your trims. And for this reason, it is recommended that you remove the leather first so you can easily push the black plastic upwards from inside.

the leather is held by plastic clips. It's this plastic frame that you are bending (by pinching it) which allows the rectangular shape to deform a bit and thus come out from the hole.

Thanks all for the replies.

The problem with PML is that they will damage something for sure and for no apparent reason.

I brought my car in for change of ignition coils for the N42 engine, my valvetronic plastic engine cover which has sliver strips got badly scratched???!!! In the process, they also scratched my centre console???!!!

When they replaced by LHS window regulator, my LHS door sill got a deep cut into the plastic???!!!

When I send in my car for servicing, may car came out with rough idling...???!!!

I don't know what these guys are up to, but I think my next car will not be a BMW. It's not the car, it's the people working on the car :(

bro, i have exactly the same problem as you. they always scratch my trims, and i will simply return, and nicely ask them to do good the damage they've done.

they scratched my m3 steering wheel, they gave me new trims, they scratched my z3 dashboard, they replaced the whole motherson dashboard. they need a little coaxing to do good the damage, but as long as we're ethical, and only ask them to replace damage that's really done by them, there's nothing wrong about that.

i suggest you go back and tell them to replace everything that they've damaged. it's only right.
