Hot air when Bottom aircon is running at low fan speed

Hi again,

I recently found out that if I set the aircon at more than 20C and fan speed at low range, I get hot air blowing from aircon output below.
The front air con still remains cold.

However, if I turn on the aircon below 20C and keep the fan speed medium to high, then I get cold air blowing from bottom.
But, if I do that, the whole cabin is too cold.

I was wondering if there is any leak or is that a common problem?
Pls advise...anyone

It's a feature of the E46 automatic aircon. Don't worry about it. I keep mine at 23C and don't bother about the airflow to the feet.

It's normal I guess, I sometimes get hot air near the foot well. DOn't really pay any attention to it.

I get hot air with my temps set to 21 or 25. Complained to SA and he said its normal. wth ...

BMW emphasis on 'cool head warm feet'. Therefore, it is the feature of the A/C to have 'warm' not 'hot' air blowing out from the ducts below. Think about it, does your feet respond faster when it is warm or cold?

Have been driving my E90 320 for 3 mths now & only yesterday my wife noticed warm air blowing from bottom symptom, similar to what megaclaw reported 7 mths ago.

Know that megaclaw’s driving the E46 model & would like to know if any other owner of E90 encounter such symptom before?

Is it a normal aircon standard for the 3 series mentioned in this thread?
