Interesting, I just read thru my manual and BMW longlife-01 is the preferred choice while alternative it would be the BMW longlife-98.
Now BMW has been recommending Castrol and Castrol Edge 5W40 only meets longlife-98 specification, while ELF EXCELLIUM FULL-TECH 0W-30 meets the preferred longlife-01 specification. That is confusing, because why should I go for the alternative ( Castrol ) which BMW is recommending when ELF meets BMW's specification of preferred longlife-01?
