Hi guys.. am about to confirm purchase of a 3 yr old E60 520i (2/04).

The price is good just over 100k. But the mileage is high - 105k. Test driven the car, everything seems fine.. smooth transmission, responsive engine, everything feels and seems tight. Interior wise, some of the door handles are peeling but that's about it.

Can you experienced guys tell me what else I should be looking out for before I sign on the dotted line.. pros and cons..

thanks very much

Re: Help Needed - Thanks!

oso reconfirm if there is xenon lights as this should be a end 03 made :)

Re: Help Needed - Thanks!

105K mileage is ridiculous!!!

I bought my 02/2004 E60 with 24k mileage & I think it was ok only.....

Pls reconsider again.

Re: Help Needed - Thanks!

hi guys.. thanks for the comments. even at $103k you guys tink not worth buying?

Re: Help Needed - Thanks!

100k?? is that all? hello in Germany that is still brand new. BMW should be good for 500k before engine rebuild. Dont forget the average Singapore car does 25k per year, thats the average, so a car with a bit more miles is most likely a sales guy or a boss who travels to KL weekely or something, as long as it's well maintained, will be no problem. I saw a 7 series, same vintage with 175k on the clock. No worries, the car is just run in!!!

Re: Help Needed - Thanks!

Normal mileage is 20k to 25k per year, so although you are paying a low price now, you will also have to sell later at a low price, unless you scrap the car.

105k kms is not a huge mileage, but I personally would look for something lower and pay a slightly higher price.

Whether it is worth depends on other factor - OMV, COE, assumption on export value. This is important for a used car - in calculating the annual depreciation for a used car. This will be a better gauge whether your car is a value buy versus another 520 that is selling at say, $110K. Bear also in mind that the car you are looking at is before March 2004 - old PARF scheme.

if u happen to know any service advisor at PML u could ask 4 help to check history
of vehicle export value would be much lower once mileage 100k if u plan to export later oso no more warranty for 02/2004 basically for e60 the main concern is the active steering, gearbox n door panel rattling apart from dat all should be fine i had my active steering gearbox replaced by PML under warranty after 16 months with only 10k mileage it is oso advisable to upgrade to the latest software hope u get ur lovely ride soon:)

Re: Help Needed - Thanks!

Re: Help Needed - Thanks!

How much does PML charge to retrofit xenons and PDC since many of the early batch 520 do not come with these options?

Hey bro, as per wat Kentonna touch on, i felt dat financially tis may b a steal; given an OMV of 52K, assumin a COE of abt 30K, u derive the min paper value at 5th year of $65700. Body value shld b abt 20K which brings u to abt $85K at the 5th year.

Your Depre for 1 year 11 mths of drivin works out to be abt $19K. Pretty interestin number for a BMW 5 series....

of course, 105K km seems a bit high but I always felt dat if well maintained, the car shld b alrite. tis car shld b viewed as a short term drive n to b exported at 5th year. Risks r minimum.

My 2 cents

Cheers

Re: Help Needed - Thanks!

The outgoing E39 body is like $10k+(correct me if i m wrong), not to factor in the high mileage.
As yr goes by, the body price get worse, take the e46 as an example.

IMHO, it tough to play god in body price.
