Re: Help needed.e90 320i gearbox overheated

Just now went test drive again.so far so good no error.really dunno what could be the issues.

Re: Help needed.e90 320i gearbox overheated

May just be a temporary issue with temp overshoot due to jam but for peace of mind you may want to get the fault code interpreted.

Re: Help needed.e90 320i gearbox overheated

The fault code will tell you something ........ Not referring to the dash gear symbol.

Go to a WS and get it scanned - Whatever problem that was picked up by the sensors (and there are hundreds of them) will be registered with the fault log. It will show up with a 4 alphanumeric code which will allow techs to interpret what happen.

This will reduce the guess work .......

The oil can withstand the high temp. No need change

Re: Help needed.e90 320i gearbox overheated

bro, get it checked, can be a sign of transmission issues. Have your solenoids been changed before?

Re: Help needed.e90 320i gearbox overheated

Today went Ellipse Auto Transmission to check car but no error code found using autologic.Advice me to change ATF and monitor 1st.

So Aaron. E90 gearbox always heat up?

Yes, mine over heated multiple times.

For example:

on 5th gear, travel 140 KM/H non stop for 2 hours, over heat with same red gear logo.

So long as u used the 6th gear, gear box resume to normal.

---OR---

Jam long duration at causeway, over heated with same logo.

Drive slowly after jam to allow wind to cool down the gear box is the best way.

No need to do anything, no need change any parts, nothing damaged.

Gear box will continue to work fine.

-----------------

However I do suspect thread starter's solenoid is due for change.

I suspect due to the solenoid, he is always at the wrong lower gear thus over heated the gear box.

Just my thoughts.

Re: Help needed.e90 320i gearbox overheated
