hey bros..just to check..would i spoil the gearbox or clutch if i do neutral gear when im cruising the car and then gear in to accelerate again when not enough speed..usually do this to obtain smoother cruise and slower on reducing speed then on gear 6..

cheers

Re: help, experienced SMG users!

Well if u put it neutral then re-engage, do u know wot gear it will be on again?
In other words...
Is the system smart enough to re-engage to the previously engaged gear?

IMO, avoid doing this.
U can still cruise smoothly with gears being engaged anyway so why the risk?

I second tripleM's thoughts.

Don't risk it.

Your SMG system is a delicate and sophisticated system, let it run naturally by itself.

Re: help, experienced SMG users!

Yep. I triple tripleM's suggestion. The SMG in my 6er works fine during cruising. No issues with the down changes at all even when slowing down. The SMG has its distinct characteristics. You either love it or hate it. Drivers love it IMHO....passengers hate it (IMWO*)

Yep..passengers hate it hahaha.. they don't know when the next jerk will come...

Re: help, experienced SMG users!

Yeah. I love the SMG to bits. Before I collected my 6er, I heard so much bad reviews abt the SMG which got me all cynical and stuff. But after having it for a year, I'm looking forward to the 7 speed SMG...ala M6 cab!

Re: help, experienced SMG users!

It's a manual transmission sans the clutch plate. No ATF required, but watch out for SMG valve pump leaks and clutch wear. :)

Other than that..enjoy!
