hello!

hi there, i'm new at this, so if you see multiple similar posts by me, sorry, it's the technology-goon at work. anyway, i find the stuff here really interesting and relatively easy to follow (even for an automotive-idiot like myself) although the technical bits leave me completely lost. why did i take so long to come forward to say hello? was a little scared and shy i guess. i drive but don't own a ride of my own YET. am seriously thinking about it and it's a toss-up between a 3-series and a VW Golf, but it all depends on the opinion of the bank manager. so until then, it's ComfortDelgro and SMRT for me!

Re: hello!

Hey there!!!

Welcome to the forums :) What's your name so we can get acquainted with you further?

Do let us know when you get the 3 series or Golf (great car too btw). Perhaps you can come join us for our meetup soon :)

Cheers!

Re: hello!

Welcome. U have one seriously long nick keke!

Re: hello!

both are really nice cars aren't they? although for practicality's sake, the 3 does have a slight edge over the Golf (which I happen to think of as a happy car as opposed to the 3's serious car) ... no offence to the young (and young at heart) 3-drivers here! i see you guys have a meet-up coming up, i shall drop by then, time permitting!

Re: hello!

Which model of the 3 series and which model of the Golf are u considering? They are not in the same price league unless u are considering the base model 320i vs the Golf GTI.

Re: hello!

yup, looking at the base model 320i only (bank manager frowned pretty bad when i mentioned anything more than that) and for the VW, wasn't really looking at the GTI 'cos not too sure about driving such powerful (in my humble opinion, of course) car. i guess the comparison isn't really fair huh?

Re: hello!

Why GOLF? Golf is meant to be played, just like Tiger Woods did. BMW is meant to be driven..errhmm. Welcome to this very addictive forum

For the new BM, better off considering the 323. As for Golf GTi is the one and you will not regret -power and handling.

Ask T6 for more info, he is now an expert in Golf GTi....

Re: hello!

thanks much guys for the warm welcome and the tips! narrowing down the field was really tough, and price considerations aside, had to bear in mind the usual suspects like maintenance costs, running costs etc. one other "candidate" was the Audi, which i haven't had a chance to check out, but i've heard good things about it.
