Hi all,

I had just signed up on Sunday as a registered user after lurking around on-and-off for the last 2+ years ... I was about to make my newbie post during lunch today but couldn't find a great subject ... until I basically crumpled a 1 month old Lancer's back-end about 2 hours ago. My ride is a stock 2.75 years old Orient Blue 320, which suffered a fractured front bumper, twisted kidneys and the centre part of the bonnet sunken-in. Engine compartment was completely unscarthed but couldn't be opened ...

Personally I was pretty surprised with the damage I sustained considering the Lancer's tail was almost flat (and it ain't a hatch back ...) But still ouch ... felt really bad for the other guy, and for my (until today) accident free ride ...

I was wondering if any of you have past exprience sending your beemer for accident repair at PML and would appreciate pointers on anything to look out for. I will be driving to IDAC 1st thing in the morning and I'm still deciding between going to an authorised AVIVA workshop or PML ...

Thanks in advance for any pointers. at the meantime safe journey to all.

If your car is out of warranty, why spend more at PML ? Anyway...I presume you will be claiming your warranty rite ?

If you do not want to use PML and dun trust those workshops at industrial park...I suggest that you can try STAR Auto....they are very good at body repair too.

If you have any photos of the accident, do remember to submit them to IDAC so that they can verify the damages when the other car comes in for reporting.

Nothing more that you can do...once you kiss somebody's backside...you more or less at their mercy.

Hi Ghostrider,
Thanks for your input. My car is still within the 3 year warranty. And since the other party will definitely be claiming against me, I might as well claim against my own insurance too. I have visited IDAC this morning and will be heading to PML Alexandra (only branch that does body works) after lunch. Called up AVIVA and seems like they are ok with PML doing the repair, pending the quote from PML and their own surveyer approving it.

Hmm... I wonder if they will allow me to top-up addition $$$ to switch to M-aero kit ? Perhaps a good time to change ...

Talk to PML on your kits....tell them to leave out the kits price (but include the installation price) from the quote to insurance.

Just send to PML, since the other party is claiming against you anyway. You only want to consider outside workshop if you intend to settle privately. This logic applies even if you car is out of warranty.

Depending on how much NCD you're forfeiting, private settlement is not entirely out of the question. In this case, you'll want to get PML's quote, outside workshop's quote, then compare. Then include the other guy's quote (most likely he will want to go back agent since you pay anyway). Do your own sums based on these info.

Hi DreamDriver,
Left my car at PML this afternoon, will get it back in 5 working days :)
Actually the whole process seem quite hassle-free. According to the service consultant, some insurance policy restricts the repairs to only "Authorised Workshops", but my policy with AVIVA is okay. I work out the sum and since outside workshop will still make insurance claim, the choice to go PML is clear....

I have had 50% NCD for the last 6 Years, all the hard work down the drain, sign ...

Hi Ghostrider, quicksilver, Dreamdriver,
