To bros and gals out there...

Is it a good idea to change the original yellow headlights to white instead? Mine is not Xenon nor HID lights....Does white headlights shine further and brighter than the yellow lights? Is it expensive to change all of them?

Hope to get some advice from the experts out there...:helpp!:

Re: Headlights

white is good for visibility (for other cars to see you), but does not penetrate far.

yellow is good for penetration - shines further than white lights.

white lights do not have a throw as far as a comparative (same wattage) yellow lights.

most people change from yellow to white because it makes their car look better.

and no, it's not very expensive to change from yellow to white.

Re: Headlights

Stick with the original headlight bulbs. Everything happens for a reason. :)

Re: Headlights

Great thanks to all of you! I shall stick to yellow lights.

Re: Headlights

Bro,

Just sharing, I had mine changed to philips crystal vision at one of the listed workshop here,
cost less then 140 includes installation. It does shine brighter & further & it looks better.

Re: Headlights

drive on the NSH at night (where there are no streetlamps, and use your whiter brighter lights. then tell us what you think...

when driving in singapore, we don't need to use our lights to illuminate the road - it's already so friggin' bright. it's more for other road users to see us.

the irritating thing is that some aftermarket lights are too bright and glaring, especially when installed on a bloody SUV - shines directly into your rear-view mirror when approaching from behind.

if you really want to change your bulbs to whiter ones, change the low beam only. pls do not get the super-duper white ones - they are blinding. do be considerate.

leave the high-beam bulbs alone. they will help you when you are driving at night in m'sia.

the only thing is that when you turn on your high beam, there will be a colour difference between 2 lights.

Re: Headlights

There's a good reason for the stock lights to be in yellow. It's best for night driving as the throw distance as well as penetration through smog is still the best. Compared to white light, white is more fashionable and trendy, looks great, turn heads etc., but sucks as driving lights if the environment is pitch dark.
