I think I have spoken to Sam regarding the nature of items to be posted, and we might have a disagreement here. What is suitable to be sold here and what's not? Many of us have posted watches to be sold here. So some non-car items can be tolerated. But what if I wanna sell my Kerokerokeropi boxer? My Hello Kitty G-string? Where do we draw the line, if we even wanna draw one?

Re: "Eight Horses" Chinese Painting

I'm really not wanting to pick any bone here with anyone.

When I saw a painting on sale I personally thought WTF knn cb painting liddat also sell.

Then I saw the subforum: General Classifieds (Non-BMW Related)

My personal thoughts are one thing, but then, where is the line on what is allowed and what is not? The general tenor of this subforum does not suggest `anything above S$20K'.

So if dun wanna buy, LPPL just don't answer lor. Who are we to say what items are high class or low class. Computer games also got sell here before, wallet, keychain, etc. This is not a luxury goods subforum (even if a S$118 painting is more expensive than any painting in my house as I have banned all those hanging things from the house).

Re: "Eight Horses" Chinese Painting

Well, our General Classifieds is something like ebay.com.sg. Rules and regulations on what can be sold and what cannot be sold can be referenced here: eBay Rules and Policies Overview

In the end, its up to the Admin Team's discretion to make sure that the forum is not abused. This is a folder that everyone in our Forum is entitled to sell whatever they want, adhering to guidelines, of course.

Cheers!

Re: "Eight Horses" Chinese Painting

i think the issue that some members have raised is not with regards to what is being sold but more towards whether the member is here for bmw interest or for using the forum as another yahoo auction, ebay etc like what Bro Toto have mentioned.

most of us can from time to time sell watches, games etc thanks to this new folder the admins have created but u can see some "members" who only post to sell things like car mods, engine oils etc on a regular basis. that is why some members and even site sponsors have our reservations abt hence the grouses. try clicking "all posts by member" for some members and all u can see are their pasar malam threads so that is why some bro start questioning their posts.

That's a nice diplomatic spin, sir.

But the words in this thread are clear:

What is suitable to be sold here and what's not? Many of us have posted watches to be sold here. So some non-car items can be tolerated. But what if I wanna sell my Kerokerokeropi boxer? My Hello Kitty G-string? Where do we draw the line, if we even wanna draw one?

So, your theory wrong. It is the `items' the only dissenting post in this thread so far is referring to.

Just like in my previous response to fiercepink's spin post, I mean no offense here. Just want to preserve clarity.

Re: "Eight Horses" Chinese Painting

Bro Centurion, u haven't seen the posts Azriel has cleaned up or else u will know what i am talking abt. The posts by Wilman and Toto were pretty clear and it actually voiced out the concerns genuine members have abt members joining purely for selling stuff and not for interest in cars or bmws. even if kenn wanna sell his g-string, the guys probably applause and egg him on cos why? all of us know that Kenn is here firstly for his passion of bmws....not selling g-strings or boxers...haha.

Hang on, I was purely converging my thoughts on the ITEMS to be sold here, no theory nor proposition of any agenda.

alright. I haven't seen those posts. So I apologise if any hurt caused.

Let me make it simple: I always react very strongly when I smell that people `play high class' .

I hate elitism for the sake of prestige.

The theory I was referring to is sszone's, not yours.

i already told you my personal feeling in my first post in this thread. But I did not try to impose my personal feeling on other people for this matter.

I always think that mob rule is not good. We need law and order one. So cannot just delete people's post just because don't achieve imaginary high class standard.

Anyway sszone when I say I react strongly to `play high class' it was not talking about my response to your post, it is relating to my general attitude in this thread.

When was a single hint of elitism and "play high class" being detected?

Re: "Eight Horses" Chinese Painting

I feel obligated to answer your question, so I must, it is an implied duty since I uttered the words `elitism for the sake of prestige' and `play high class'.

The answer is - I detected these when you posted:

Many of us have posted watches to be sold here. So some non-car items can be tolerated.

while you clearly opposed the S$118 horses painting, at least.

Re: General Classified Discussion

kudos to Sam for moving the thread to a discussion.

my 1st tots are the items sold are not what prompted that thread's posts in the 1st place, if u guys can view the 1st post....u can see all the items posted by the member. the frequency of the posts of such items (20+ in all) and not much other bmw-related or even forum lounge talk posts by the member in question is what prompted the questioning of the intention of the members by our fellow members.

item wise, as long as the item does not get too kinky or offensive (religious/sexual/illegal etc), i guess it can be posted.
i mean all of us will, once in a while, wanna sell off something, and this classifieds is a real useful section. what we want is to simply prevent abuse of this section, this privilege given by our forum and admins.

lastly, i hope bros who have posted last nite such as Bro Wilman and Toto can join in so that Bro Centurion can have a clearer picture why this debate occurred in the 1st place. besides this hello kitty and etc saga, some of us can see some members abusing it to sell engine oils (which i also see the same fella posting non-stop in the lexus forum i am helping to moderate) or even a guy creating 2 nicks to sell bmw stuff on and off in the forum. its just that most of us keep quiet and never raise this issue before until the point that some of us are fedup that these ppl are really the limit.

hope i did not offend anyone with my posts but i am just being frank with what i see.
hope this discussion will improve the forum positively. we are all here cos the forum matters to us if not, we probably won't even bother to debate....haha
have fun guys

YOU ASSUMED THAT I AM OPPOSING THE PAINTING - THAT'S NOT WHAT I MEANT. Drill that in, my friend.

I was merely saying many of us have already breached the non-car-parts selling in this forum, so how are we gonna draw a line between what is to be posted for sale and what not. This is in response to the numerous posts in precedence. I have no idea how you could get so jumpy without knowing the full context of what was posted. Please check with Sam what we have discussed offline and see the full picture before jumping the gun too early.

Go take a shower.

Re: General Classified Discussion

Hi all,

Thanks for the feedback and concern.

IMO - As long the threads are not offensive in nature and does not flout forum rules. I would let it go.

Obviously, this is taken into account that this person is not doing a business or abusing the forum and skirting rules to sell multiple products under a different guise etc.

We have not drawn any clear lines to demarcate what can be or cannot be sold, and neither do we wish to.

So far micquek has followed forum rules and not violated them in any way. On the other hand, I see regular members posting OTs all over the forums (and hey, even in this thread) and that makes life even more difficult for the admins.

Eh, what gives? Are we being hypocritical towards "strangers" in the forum? I've personally met up with micquek and he is an honest and friendly fellow with his goods (oh, i bought my printer from him).

Given this scenario - If Micquek decides to be a site sponsor and starts selling BMW accessories or some other component, I would vouch for him instantly as a trustworthy retailer.

Let's not forget, this is a public forum which is free for use, and unless there is a direct conflict of interest to the functioning role of this site and to it's site sponsors, we will take the necessary actions to enforce rule with reasonable judgment.

Thanks.
