Gear ratios of 318iA (E46)

Helo guys

I have been driving the above for a year and still amazed at how short the first 3 ratios are and the odd gap between the 3rd and 4th clogs.

My observation :
1st gear - 40kmh at redline
2nd gear - 80kmh at redline
3rd gear - 120kmh at redline
4th gear - errr... didnt try but at 150kmh, it's about 5k rpm so i reckon maybe 165-170kmh top speed.
5th gear - don't bother, too little power anyway.

I'm not sure whether fellow 318iA owners feel the same way. The first 3 ratios is excellent for sprinting (given the slushbox), esp. from

Hmmm...

Very interesting post.

I reckon that most of us will face this issue with our E46, are there any ways to enhance our machines further?

Suggestions?

Flash the ECU with HILOP?

Better Air Filter?

Anyone care to add?
