Yes, his is 320i but Mike of Sin Wee Chuan said he needs the ribbon type.

Re: FS: OEM M3 Mirrors

I understand you can swap out the motors (with the ribbon cables) into the new mirror casing right?

It's gotta be compatible to the other link which is also on ribbon wires. Otherwise, it won't work.

I'd think what Leon is saying is to swap your existing motor with the OEM casing. that way, you will have the OEM M3 mirrors with ribbon wire on your ride.

Re: FS: OEM M3 Mirrors

Hi Guys,

Yes mine's a ribbon cable type, I opened my door panel to confirm Mike's claim. Swapping out innards seems like a good idea, but most probably will loose the folding feature. Would do this only if no other choice.

Thanks T6 for watching over this thread, can't access forum from work. damn!!

See you guys on Sunday!!

Cheers

In that case, you should give it a try by removing and exchanging the motors of both mirrors. Not everyday that you get a ready made OEM M3 mirror which fits a sedan. Real waste to let it go.

Subzero, if Mike says too much work, u might wanna try other workshops. If as simple as swapping motors, places like BVO do it all the time. Maybe u can get some inputs from Ah Wee on whether do-able at reasonable rates.

Re: FS: OEM M3 Mirrors

Would the folding feature still be there? Stock mirrors should have only 2 motors and the foldable ones three? Right?

Just convert your existing motors on your current mirrors into the M3 mirrors and it will work.

Re: FS: OEM M3 Mirrors

Ah Wee also says too much work and not worth it. Maybe I asked him during their busy period and he was better off doing something else.

If I can open the mirrors I can try DIY. Anyone knows how to open the mirrors. I saw Mike doing it and it seems so simple but I tried and was not able to remove the mirror, i.e. the reflective piece. Didn't want to break anything and be left with an expensive piece of worthless mirror.

Re: FS: OEM M3 Mirrors

Subzero,

Sent u a PM.

There is a place that does mirror motor swaps for bimmers.
A fellow forumer recommended a bodykit place called Y2K (17 Kim Chuan Terrace).
Tel : 63480060

Anyone been to this place before?
Only the boss does the installation.

Re: FS: OEM M3 Mirrors

Hi SL2,

You are right. Will do that. With Nighthawk's contact will explore.

Cheers
