Flushing of Air-con Compressor

Hi

My ride is a pre-facelift 318i and recently the air-con has been alternatingbetween cold & not cold when switch to 20 degree. Have the mechanic checked and he has commented that the air-con compressor is not not working well... that is the pressure from it is no longer good. (p/s: air con gas is good)

He recommend that I will need to change the compressor but he also suggested that I can try flushing the compressor which might help. Any bros out there done this before and your comments if this will sort out the problem. If possible, do advice where I can do it and what will be the damange. Thanks

Cheers
Adrian

Re: Flushing of Air-con Compressor

Spent almost $ 1400 for a original compressor replacement for my ex Pre-FL 318 E46

Same symptoms, not cold for few days, then......shudder!!

Get second opinion, flushing the system may be a total waste of $$ and not end the problem.

Cheers

Re: Flushing of Air-con Compressor

Hi,

Check the compression for the compressor when air con is not working well. If compressoin is at the low side, usually the compressor needs to be replaced. If not, then something else. The seond most expensive to be replaced is the condensor, some called the "coil". labour cost is high as well. need to remove the whole dash board to replace it :(
